Nothing for me. First time not ordering. I may wait this cycle out for a year.

I note that availability is still good. Maybe 1-2 weeks for the 8 plus. 8 is shipping.

    Watch is doing better.

We're probably not going to order until later in the year, assuming I talk my wife into ordering at all :) My step-daughter said she's waiting for her 6 to die before she orders a replacement.

Also, the price of quick charge is… ouch!

I'm going to wait the year out. I just had my 7 plus replaced because of a intermittently noisy speaker, so it brand new looking.

Even though I'm only using 32Gig of the 128 gig capacity, I'd hate to spend more and go down to 64gig. Maybe I start placing all my mac photos in the phone instead.

So no X. And there really is no difference with the 8 plus. Just less memory and a bit more money, even with the upgrade program from Apple.

And a year from now, I'll own the 7 plus so it has trade in value to lower my upgrade price. Kinda feel that a 128 gig device will be hot next year. The trade in value now is ~$450. Next year less, but still something.

My wife has a 6. Not a 6S even. Maybe 3 years old. Apple will give here $135 for it to upgrade. So that brings the 8plus down from $799 to $664 to finance. 64 Gig for her is just fine. But I'll let her decide. She gets the $135 either for a 7plus (128Gb) or 8 plus (64Gb).

More colors in the 7 line that she may want however.

I will place the Watch in my xmas list. Not sure I will spend the extra for cellular. But pricing may change by then.

That's where I am and feel fine about it. No regrets.

My wife is also on a 6 (+), but it was replaced under Apple Care once, don't recall if it was a year or two ago. Unlike your case though hers is almost full, so 128 would be a good upgrade for her. On the other hand if she'll use it for another 3 years then maybe 256 will make sense. After all if she continues to fill up at the same rate it'll be almost full again :)

The Apple site gives a free trade estimate on line. Hers should be worth mote than the $135 for the non plus 6 we have. Probably $170.

    https://www.apple.com/iphone/trade-up/

I just checked, and my wife is 120 Mb from being full on the 64 Gb 6! Seems she has every photo on there. So a 128 7+ or 256 8+ is now in view for her.

She doesn't use the Touch ID....I doubt she would like the facial one either. So I'm certain that this and the price tag would shy her away from the X

Yes, the figures I've seen are the $170-$175 for the 6+. The biggest problem will be the color, she really likes that red that's no longer available…

He's responding to a question that no one is asking, of Android ( a piece of hardware in particular , Pixel, in some cases) vs iPhone X, and switching or not.

I wouldn't read too much into the iPhone offerings this cycle. If my favorite $100 a bottle brand of red wine has a slight off year, I wouldn't consider switching to a $10 bottle.

I don't think you're his target audience. He isn't locked into red wine and is willing to try other flavors

Oh, and he switched last year, before his wine decided to have an off year

Yes, he seems to be writing a memo to himself, in a self-gratification kind of way .

Fine red wine vs other flavors???

You know, maybe he decided that he'll skip the table wine altogether and will enjoy some old port for desert instead. Who am I to judge? :D

Never had a need to unlock my wife's phone with ATT. Since its three years old, it was easily done on ATT website. Got the confirmation within a few minutes. So that iPhone is ready for some $$ credit for the upgrade.

How do you mind the no headphone jack thing? Just curious. I love my older iPad but it's stuck on operating 9. That's my only beef with apples although I love them. They are making it so you keep having to upgrade. Which I understand why.... But price wise it's frustrating.

Actually Apple is too good at updates, some would say. They have often been criticised for updating the hardware that is too old to run the new version efficiently. Google on the other hand is being criticised for only providing updates for two years. Can't win either way I guess

True... You can't win. But at least stuff still works on my older androids. I just don't wanna have to buy iPad every year because of well you know.... They are good on updates. It just makes if difficult for some that need their stuff to last a little longer. That's all. All in all good. I still enjoy my iPad.

I hear you. It used to be the same with computers 15 or so years ago, but is better now. The main problem is you can't upgrade the hardware in the tablets in phones. Something as simple as adding RAM can easily prolong the life of a device. And in this regard the modern laptops are pretty bad, too. I guess it's just that when everything adds together it gets really expensive.

Boy, how things can change in a week. I found out from Verizon my iPhone 6 Plus trade-in value is worth about $270, so I may very well trade it in when the time comes and get an X. I have no need for the 256GB version, so the 64GB will do fine. With the trade in value, I could get an X for $730. I could live with the monthly payments on that versus $1K.

I'm becoming more curious about the X than I was initially after the announcement. By the time the 2018 iPhone versions come out, my 7 Plus will be paid for and can be traded in. Maybe by that time Apple will have fully embraced the bezel-less design for good. I can't help it, new phones are just too much fun!

Just picked up an black iPhone 8 plus, 256 Gb for my spouse. Apple person says wireless charging will work with cases up to near an 1” thick. Hmmm.

Fine looking phone. Glass back is clearly a fingerprint magnet though. Got $145 credit for an old iPhone 6. Not an S, nor a plus. Just a 6.

My step-daughter has just ordered a black iPhone 8+/64GB because her current 6 is starting to behave really erratically. Her screen occasionally acts like it's possessed by some capacitance devil, then the next moment as if it's enveloped in an impenetrable capacitive shield.

I do wonder about the merits of wireless charging. I get the convenience of plopping a phone on an, not free, charging pad.

But even at work and certainly at home, if my battery juice has drain, and I wish to charge...I still may want to use the phone too!

That means not being confined to working with my phone while it lying on a charging disc.

And I don’t know about others, but I can use my phone for an hour while lying in bed in the morning, and I still want to wake up and go with a fully charged device, not one that is done 20% already.

I suppose we have a choice to take it off the charging pad and plug it in to use. But that’s a silly extra step. I have an extra long charging cable just so I can use the phone while still lounging in a lying down in bed.

So it’s cool, but not always useful.

Well, I guess it being an extra accessory a lot of people will opt out. Personally I feel the quick charger is a more useful accessory.
