Smart PCS is a new unlimited / no contract / no credit check type carrier for North Georgia and Eastern Tennesse.

According to their web site, they own FCC licenses for Whitfield and Murray Counties in Georgia, as well as in Bradley and Polk Counties in Tennessee.
They are running a CDMA2000 1x-based network and will offer roaming on Cricket.

Here is their web site: Smart PCS

You can see their listing in our zip code database for Dalton, GA here:

Previously they were listed as Banana Communications, which is the corporate name.

I salute them for their Google Maps coverage viewer. Nicely done.

I wonder if their business goal is to be acquired by Cricket?

Nope, I posted the only info I had...maybe someone else has more.

I agree, it works nicely for a small carrier.

Hmmm... MetroPCS has licenses just to the south in Calhoun and Adairsville (but no service yet) They could buildout Adairsville and Calhoun and then buy out SmartPCS (or vice versa):browani: Then they would have seamless unlimited service, from the south Atlanta suburbs to the Tennessee mountains:eek:

If Metro and Cricket had enough licenses/spectrum, they couls actually connect the the unlimited matkets on their own (MetroPCS has metro ATL and Athens; Cricket has Savannah, Macon, and Columbus, Phenix City, AL and Chattanooga, TN)

    Smart PCS: Family Plans

    There is the deal online.

Looks kind of like Metro PCS's family plan deal they had going a while back. 4 Lines U/L Talk/Text $100.
