So I have a new Slvr L6 that I got on e-bay. I'm a t-mobile user but I bought the phone because I will leave the country in a month to study in Ukraine. The phone has some quirks - the VM notification, the fact that i can't do mms sends etc. These seem to be standard problems. I read Jay's Sticky note and know that to solve these problems i should do some flashing and seem editing. I know that this can ruin the phone if not done properly, so before attempting it, I want to know if the quirks are universal, and will follow me even to Europe, or if it is only a US, t-mobile system problem that I should live with for a month. and if I modify the phone - with that then make it unable to work in Europe?
What do you mean by the vm notification? Like, it doens't notify you? Or it's obnoxiously notifying you? I just got one from my mom off ebay, should arrive on Thursday, and she doesn't like the tiiiny little envelope that signals voice mail on her current phone... I was hoping this might be better with a phone switch but maybe it'll be worse?
Each carrier has their own way of VM notification. One would need to mod the phone so it matches the method used by the particular carrier you are using. Most often disabling manual network selection fixes the VM problem though. -Jay
Okay, sounds like an easy fix, but if the phone already notifies just fine when a voice mail is sent... am I in the clear? Or am I going to see these quirks later on? Is it inconsistant notification or anything?
If your notification works properly then don't mess with it. It may stop working if you switch carriers though, and that's when you may need to make some mods. -Jay
