Not sure when this happened, but COOL!! ...and over-due! I dusted off my old Nokia N95, downloaded it, and made a Skype call over GSM (!!) and it sounded not too bad (!!) Kind of surprised...

I tried it a few more times (Skype over GSM/UMTS) and it was working consistently good! :) Granted I was in good coverage and not moving, so I'm sure that helped ;) The bitrate was about 3KBps up and 3KBps down, and I counted roughly 1MB for a 2 minute call. Not bad. ...oh, one important thing I almost forgot: when you're signed into Skype, it keeps a data connection open, and drains your phones battery pretty quick! I went from a full charge to about 40% on my Nokia N95 in juts 2-3 hours with Skype on (not even using it!) and if you move around, ex. change cells, it will draw some small amounts of data as well, so beware...

At the moment, this Skype app is only for Symbian and iPhone, but read it's coming to Android in the coming months. Looking forward to that :)
