It means that the handset is locked to another carrier most likely the one that it was on before you had it. You'll have to unlock it before you can use it with the SIM that you have.
Normally that error also indicates that the phone can't read the SIM or if it's a prepaid SIM, then its validity has expired. You may need to get a new one. Make sure it hasn't been deactivated.
but i know some people who had old SIM cards and they were starting to burn out........they would get the SIM card rejected message all the time........All they had to do is turn the phone off take out the battery and SIM card.....put them back in and turn the phone on.......... of course if it constantly does this the SIM might be completely burned out... or if the SIM is new.....chances are that Telekom is right and that the phone is locked to only accept SIM cards from one carrier.............then you would have to unlock the phone which im sure someone around here can help you with.....but thats not my specialty
Of course it can happen but it's not at all common. SIMs can reside comfortably in phones for literally years with no reason to replace them other than if you move and the SIM now indicates roaming where you aren't roaming. Generally if you have a 32k SIM or newer it's rarely necessary to replace a SIM. There are of course exceptions. cingular in consolidating their networks you will likely get better service since the new SIMs prefer different networks from what I gather.
i have a nokia 5140i and it was on o2 but it got unlocked for any sim. so i put my orange sim in it and it work for 3weeks. NOW my sim does not work in any phone its says on the sreen SIM CARD REJECTED. so can you help me because i am despite for my phone!!!
Check to see if the contacts are being blocked by dirt/dust. Then check your SIM for any scratches. If that's not the problem, try the SIM in another phone. You may need a new SIM.
