I just heard this from a friend of mine and I nearly peed my pants laughing. I told him his friend was an idiot for thinking this...but I just wanted to double check with you guys. This is what he emailed to me: Has anyone EVER heard of this? The wireless web charges by the minute - but NOT just having your PHONE on!! heheheheheh
It is possible that some inexperienced users believe this because cellphones introduced a new concept of turning off/on the phone and per minute usage which is not seen in landline phones. A landline phone doesn't have to be turned on or off and only toll calls are charged per minute.
Must agree with all the above comments. I've had Sprint for 2 years and leave my phone on all the time. Never been charged for minutes other than what I've used.
Does your friend have Vision service? If so, maybe they are confusing the data transfer usage with call usage. You can in fact use data kbs just by having your phone on if you receive text messages etc. since you have the option of an "always on" internet connection. Anytime your phone sends or received data you are essentially being charged for usage. Check out the terms and conditions for Vision service. You'll see that Sprint does not itemize usage. All you get is a lump sum of kbs used monthly.
