Welcome to WA, Tullphan!! PocketPCs don't come up on a daily basis here on WA but I have one myself (T-Mobile MDA II). If you're new to PocketPCs, be aware that all PocketPCs regardless if they're marketed as T-Mobile, Orange, O2 in Europe and as Siemens or HP in the US, they're all from one manufacturer known as HTC. HTC is based in Taiwan and they develop the same devices for Europe, North America and Asia but designate a different brand and model name to each PPC they release. Here are a couple forums which deal with the PocketPC in depth: http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=181 (Active US/Canadian PocketPC at Howard's Forums) http://www.xda-developers.com and their forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com XDA Developers Wiki showing the various names for HTC-made PocketPCs: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_PhoneModels I'll wait for Charlyee to reply to this thread since that's the one WAer I know who owned the SX66 for a short time. You can also view the thread here: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/the-roaming-zone/11322-just-got-new-toy-today.html?highlight=SX66
Hello, yes I did own one for a brief perid of time, actually only 24 hours. Everything that I posted on the thread that ShoresGuy pointed you to, is still all valid. The reason I got rid of it is probably my usage pattern rather than the device itself. I am used to leaving my PDAs on the sync cradle while I am at my desk and this makes it difficult to answer calls right away and with one hand. I didn't like using the touchscreen with my fingers for making calls either so I needed both hands or the key board slid out. Physically it was little to wide to comfortably hold in my hands. It did not have as good a reception as the Nokia 6230 I had then or the 6682 that I have now, and good reception is very important for me. Don't misunderstand me, it is certainly an excellent device and has a quad phone to boot, but it still a PDA first and phone second, and that's not what I wanted. Hope this helps. Good Luck ShoresGuy: Good Memory....
They make Windows Smartphones as well. Look at Phonescoop's HTC page as well as at XDA-Developers.com: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/manufacturer.php?m=25 http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_PhoneModels
Very interesting! So... is this some kind of agreement between Microsoft and HTC that only they can make them for rebranding or what?
I honestly don't know, the HTC Taiwan and HTC Europe sites are very scant about the company information and how this arrangement was established.
Well that was a quick investigation! After some quick read-throughs... I determined that it is simply HTC's specialty to make Windows smart phones. But it isn't an exclusive agreement, because there is also Motorola's MPx series of phones (yes, not made my Motorola, but not by HTC, either) and the Motorola i930 (that is made my Motorola if I am not mistaken). This makes sense, right?
Yes, it sure does. The MPx series is a Microsoft Windows Smartphone version but the bulk of HTC's speciality products are PocketPCs.
Ah, duh :loony: Windows Smartphones... hmm... now I cant think of any non-HTC examples for PocketPC phones. AH! The Motorola Q, right?
If there's one thing I love about the smilies, it's the one where people like to show cuckooness The Q sure looks like an interesting newcomer to the PPC palette.
Lol normally I use the Quick Reply mode, but now I go to the advanced mode just for the smilies :rotfl:
