Hey, I posted a thread regarding minute usage, but I also thought it would be fun for everyone to share their text messaging addictions (or lack thereof). I sent and received a total of 6012 Text messages last billing cycle and sent and received 319 picture messages. I'm on a $10 messaging plan and did not incur overages.
I received 3, and CALLED all 3 back. I hate Text messaging!! I just don't get it!! I'm only 38, but it makes me feel old!!:loony:
Text messaging?? What's that?? I never text...my fingers need to stay limber for the tv remote control and my computer keyboard for posting on WA!:browani:
im on a grandfathered plan where i get 1500 sms's but cait hardly use them all. i also get 200 picture msg but only use leaa than twenty. you want me to send you one,
I use less than 50 each month even though my plan gives me 300 per month. Most of those are taken up by CNN alerts. I do text when I need to, but not as a major means of communication.
I send a lot of texts because I can't use the phone when I'm at work. I also get hockey, football and soccer scores sent to my phone via SMS as well as hockey news. I mostly text my wife and brother, we're all on my T-Mobile account and we have the $19.99 unlimited family text package.
may be at most 5 text messages per month. I only wnet over once (the 50 message plan but the rest are all international. However, email is a fdiferent story, well this is part of the BB I also use IM+ for IM which is free use for me as it does not count on Cingular.
I use somewhere in the neighborhood of 750 text messages a month. It keeps me distracted during boring lectures. Between AIM, news alerts, and friends, it adds up! Good thing t-mo has the unlimited messaging for families or i would have some serious overages (once had 3200 messages on a 300 message plan, ouch.)
I send between 75 - 100 a month, I have no idea how many I recieve since I don't get charged for incoming, but my estimate is around 100 incoming. Now my 1 daughter sends an average of 600 a month & the other one sends around 200-250 a month, so they are getting close to the same incoming. This is one of the reason's I don't want to migrate, I have a 1000 Shared SMS plan with unlimited incoming for $23.98 a month.
I'm on the 3000 texts a month plan from Cingular, but I ALWAYS go over. I'd much rather text than talk to someone. I'm sure this is why I've always been eligible for early uprades after a year of having most of my phones... ~*Ash*~
I barely text at all. But with the cost of my sister's unlimited plan, and the 300 txt plan I had I switching to the new Sprint unlimited family txt plan for $20. Now to start getting txt alerts for Email & my favorite things.
There are only a few people I exchange texts with and I am definitely under 300/month (10 in a day is a lot for me). I have found it useful when either I or my wife has a flight delay and we want to give each other quick status updates. Saves calling and saying "they just told us we will board in 40 min", or some such. Also, I've found that it's the best way to stay in touch with my 14 y.o. niece and 17 y.o. nephew. They are not too dependable when it comes to email, but they answer their text messages right away. They probably think the old guy is just trying to be cool, but hey - it works!. SW
I wish I could say that. I am just at the midway point today and OLAM shows 574 messages. My husband has you beat though, 2 /day is a lot for him, specially when I send him messages like "I am in a boring meeting, entertain me".....:lmao: . Poor man, He is probably going to have me committed one these days.
OK, I have 38 so far this month. Of those I only sent 5 and all are int'l in response to the 33 that I got.
I only use a text messaging when I am not in a data covered area and/or can not get an IM application connection. If that is the case, my usage is very high...if I am in a data area and have my email and IM working, I won't use hardly any texting.
Sounds like me, i could easily go over the 1000 mark, but being careful i manage to stay within my limit, i may need to go for the unlimited text plan instead since i went over my limit this past cycle.
Thanks Tony, I am glad to know someone else has the same problem. I had 2.5 months of unlimited from Cingular as a promotion and that just expired this billing cycle, since I never paid attention to how much I text during the unlimited time, I am thoroughly spoilt & are having to really work at it this month.
As a matter of fact i just changed my plan to the 1000 text plus the 500 included in my plan for a total of 1500, i may go over that, if i do then i'll switch to the unlimited.
I hope it works out for you. You know what bother me is that because we don't have free incoming, we get short changed of half our pool. What I mean is when we wish someone Good Morning or Happy Sunday etc., we expect a reply & we do the same. So it takes 2 messages to just say Good Morning etc. Ok I will stop now before someone calls me a moron :lmao:
I'm glad I'm not the only text freak, Ash. About how much do you have to pay in overages each month? It's interesting, though. I guess a lot of us are having a hard time staying within the limits of our text messaging plans...no wonder companies are raising rates- they are indeed making a ton of money off texting as we can see just within our wireless community.
Thye are making more from me, LOL, most of my moutgoing messages are to int'l. I can say i am lucky that they count incoming (from int'l) under the plan.
Well my monthly service w/out any overages SHOULD be about $80/month. But I NEVER get off under $100. Usually it's around $120-$130. ~*Ash*~
My monthly bill is usually around $300 or so...although it should be less now on my Blackjack than it was on my Blackberry. The BB unlimited tether plan was $79, plus unlimited text, and 6000 national minutes for $199.
Like Ash said, I rather text than talk most of the time. I do about 7,500 on average every month. Highest I've ever gone was 10,500. Good thing I have unlimited text with no overages LOL.
Id second that, im by no means in your league of texting but overages of $.10-$.35 a text add up real fast.
