Did the speed test and wanted to cut and paste the result ( which were 32412/1513) but for some reason the picture won't insert. Any suggestions on posting photos here?
New Embarq DSL speed upgrade: Speedtest.net: Speakeasy.net: Last Result: Download Speed: 8011 kbps (1001.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 871 kbps (108.9 KB/sec transfer rate) Please note that the above speed will likely increase since the "official" release in Florida isn't until Friday of this week for the 10 Mbps down/ 896 Kbps up Embarq DSL package.
Embarq shut down the DSL yesterday to roughly 30,000+ customers in my county. They replaced all of the existing equipment at the stations and switches with brand new equipment. I was able to receive a max dl of 8.8 Mbps and the average being between 8.0 Mbps to 8.2 Mbps before the upgrade. Below is the speed that I am receiving now (we are on the 10 Mbps download and 896 Kbps upload package):
Bellsouth connection at school in the library on one of the 60 desktops: The speed isn't bad considering that there are 60 Dell desktops in the library not to mention how many computers in teacher's offices and laptops accessing the network since the whole campus is WiFi enabled.
This is my newly upgraded home service from Charter. They sell it as 10 down and 1 up, so I think they do a pretty good job. When I get a chance I will do a test on my Sprint EVDO card too.
Here's my latest update as of 4/6/2008. Not much change from the last time I checked. At least I can say Time Warner's consistent.
Yes it is. But it has to be since there are at least a couple of hundred computers and laptops accessing the network at the same time.
Whoa I didn't think Comcast could perform like that! You've got alot more than 8MB !! When I was in NJ, Comcast was not this good, I had Comcast 3MB a few years ago, but it was still ok
I see Comcast has it's "power boost" in your market too. I have the same thing at my office. For those not familiar with Comcast, they have a feature where they don't throttle your bandwidth for about the first 30 seconds of downloading or uploading to help get it done faster. After that amount of time the speed throttles back to your rated speed. The up side is you get some really cool results on speedtest sites. :browani:
my bellsouth DSL Xtreme ran 6549 Downlink and 589 Uplink. not bad. i just upgraded today, before it was 1438 Down and 236 Up
