CenturyLink has been screwed up since August. Prior to August, we used to get 25 down and 1.8 up with a 25 ms ping from CenturyLink. Every since then, our internet has been all over the place. Up until two weeks ago, our ping was between 300-400 ms between 7 pm and midnight. Our download was anywhere between 1.1 Mbps to 10 Mbps (that was on a "good" night). We finally found out a few weeks ago that our area is at/near capacity due to bandwidth issues (PRISM TV comes to mind). So we decided to get Comcast. They came today and just finished installing it a little while ago. We got the 20/4 package (since we are in a DOCSIS 3 area). We will try this out for a few days and we may end up upgrading to the 30/6 package. So far we are very happy with the speeds and pings. The ping and upload speed is like night and day. Before (with CenturyLink): After (with Comcast):
I created a Speed Wave at Speedtest.net. To add your test to the Speed Wave go to this link: Speedtest.net - WirelessAdvisor.com Members Let's us know when you add your Speed Test to the Wave. :thumb: WARNING: Adding a test to the Speedwave may reveal your City and ISP. If you don't want that revealed, don't add a test to the Speedwave.
You still have the best 'combined' score. See your badge? Your upload is much higher than anyone else's.
Holy crap! Frontier DSL is that bad in your area??! Around here they average around 7Mpbs down and 1Mbps up! Edit: Lol, got the award for worst upload speed.
Well, that is not "my area" really. I was up in Chinle (Navajo Reservation) and that was the result from the hotel WiFi.
We upgraded to the Blast package (30 Mbps download and 6 Mbps upload) from the Performance package (20 Mbps download and 4 Mbps upload). Comcast gave us a new DOCSIS 3 modem. Here are the new speeds:
:uppoint: Add that one to the wave Speedtest.net - WirelessAdvisor.com Members Looks like you'll be 2nd.
Speedtest over wifi...does that make a difference? I have Comcast Performance. Supposed to be 20/4. I have 4....just not 20
I find with Comcast I have to constantly call and nag them to keep our speeds near what we're paying for. I just about go crazy when it dips slow enough that I can't stream Netflix in HD.
