I need some help. I bought a new RAZR through T-Mobile. I also have the Motorola Phone Tools v. 4.0. I cropped a song, transferred it to my phone but I can't set it as the ringtone. On Phone Tools it said to follow the instructions on the phone but none appeared. I already have a ringtone on there that I downloaded from the T-Mobile website. I was just wondering if anyone could help me make the cropped song the actual ringtone. It's on the phone, I just don't know how to set it yet. Thanks to anyone that can help.
Go to menu > my stuff > sounds > scroll to the song you transfered > press menu key > apply as ringtone.
There's no "My Stuff" submenu. Only Multimedia, Settings, Phonebook, Messages, Recent Calls, Games & Apps, Get More, AIM, and Office Tools.
lol I might have to send you my phone. I've already been to that section. It's on my phone, I just don't know how to select it to apply the ringtone.
Let me get this straight, is it a ringtone you transfered from your PC with Mobile Phone Tools or is it one you downloaded from the T-Mobile website?
Sorry I thought I explained that. The one that is on right now is the one that I downloaded from T-Mobile site. The cropped clip is in the sounds category right underneath the one downloaded from T-Mobile. Just can't apply that clip as a ringtone.
You did but you weren't cleared.. Did you press your center menu key? that will give you the option to "apply as ringtone"
Wait never mind. I got it! It's the very top button up above the arrow button. Thanks so much for your help Tony E.
lol It's my first day having this phone, actually it's my first day having a high tech phone and I'm practically comatose. Please forgive me.
hey guys, i am having the exact same problem, i read your whole thread and can seem to figure it out still. i have the cropped file transfered onto the phone, and i can find it in media gallery/sounds, but i can not seem to figure out how to activate it as a ringtone. when you two were talking about the main menu key, were you talking about the small round button about the dial pad? also, can it be in mp3 format or do i need to convert it to another format.
so after i crop and transfer an mp3 song to my phone, i find the song in media gallery/audio, then what do i do. i have hit the menu key to try to "apply as ringtone" as all the other ones say, but that option is not available to the file i just transfered.
I know that method works on GSM models. Are you using a CDMA phone? (V3c, V3m)? Verizon likes to lock out features on their phones to try and strongarm you into buying ringtones from them. -jay
I am not familiar with Cannadian providers, but here in the US it is common for CDMA carriers to lock those features out to force their subscribers to purchase more ringtones. Verizon is the worst offender, but Sprint & others have been guilty as well. I know the procedure I outlined works on my V3 issued by Cingular. -Jay
