I'm currently researching my first cellphone/ provider (I know I'm living in the dark ages). I live in NYC but travel by MetroNorth to Connecticut (Madison, Deep River, Ct. River Valley Area) often. I'm looking for a good phone (no more than $150-200, small, flip) and MORE IMPORTANTLY a good provider that can cover both areas. Any suggestions?
my cingular is just fine. my girlfriend has verizion and her service seems no better then mine. get the nokia 8265 its not flip but its a good phone and its only $100
Unfortunely if you live in NYC you will be hooked up with a Cingular GSM phone which gives you more limited coverage then the above Anonymous poster who is on Cingular TDMA. I second Verizon Wireless.
If you do make sure you can leave the plan, and return the phone, after a trial period. Their coverage in NYC - at least in my opinion - is spotty to say the least. Lots of dropped calls and weak signals. In fact, in July AT&T Wireless management even publically admitted they were having "difficulties" in NYC. And it has nothing to do with 9/11. Verizon also has a 15 day "no risk" trial period. Why not try both of them out?
