Is there a reason why you need a back up? Nextel has coverage the entire length of I-80 in PA.

I have heard good things about Voicestream in Pennsylvania, and mixed reactions about Verizon. Some say Verizon good, and some say bad. My friend and I have been to Grove City, PA with our Voicestream phones and neither of us had any problems.

How far out on I-80? Voicestream will have VERY spotty coverage past Wilks-Barre. Anywhere before there it is fine.

first let me say that voicestream is a good service but I personally would not use it as a backup for nextel.. why you might ask?

Because....I would want any company that could provide a strong analog backup. the places where nextel will not work. I would not want 2 phones that will work on digital only..
