Serivce through Online companies

Just wondering if anyone has Verizon service through one of those internet deals? I asked other ppl about it and they say it's not much different than getting service directly from verizon. The only difference is that the cell phones are cheaper. I've looked online and found some good ones, but unfortunately they are only for the metropolitan area. I live just outside the area (Ulster/Orange County). I was wondering if anyone knows of a good online service in or near Ulster/Orange County, or even poughkeepsie and albany?
