Thanks for mentioning the model numbers. It didn't take too long to learn that the SE M600i does 900/1800/1900 MHz GSM and UMTS. The SE P910i has the same GSM bands, but no UMTS. The UMTS of the M600i is most likely the 2100 MHz band, not used in the US. Both have the 1900 MHz band available here.

T-mobile is there in both cities. You'll find less 1900 MHz coverage in rural areas, except along major highways. Here's a link to T-Mobile's coverage map. I mention them because they have a 1900 MHz GSM network. Cingular is the other major GSM service provider, and uses both the 850 and 1900 MHz bands. I haven't seen a Cingular coverage map by band. Alltel Communications appears to have good west Texas coverage, thanks to their purchase of Western Wireless.

I leave it to you to visit your home service provider's web site, and see whom they roam with in the USA. Visit also the GSM World web site, and see roaming coverage in the USA, especially Alltel.

My friend lives in Midland and uses Cingular. They seem to have pretty good coverage there. I don't know about T-Mobile. I looked at GSM World and you can roam with both. You can either manually select a network or allow your phone to connect to the strongest signal. I would recommend just letting your phone connect automatically. It will probably give you the best coverage and reception.

osama_momen, I've looked at GSM World and found Saudi Arabia is covered by just two GSM service providers. Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) roams only on Cingular, who has primary 850 MHz service in Midland and Odessa. Saudi Telecom Company (STC) (AL JAWAL) roams with both Cingular and T-Mobile (1900 MHz network only).
