Saw the V60e at local Verizon store this afternoon! A bloody marvelous phone!

To tell the truth I would be happy with a larger screen(doesn't even have to be color) and a 2 line external....a snub antenna would be nice, but not at the price of reception. Will be holding onto my trusty Nokia 6190 a little bit longer...

It's not that I don't believe you, WindyCity, nor do I doubt you. I just think that first person's story made more sense. I have more proof about your story being correct than I do of this latest one, but once you add it all up, it seems more logical that the phone is coming out before Thanksgiving. As for it to have a color screen, I am simply -hoping- it will have a color screen. You or anybody else could be right, but the truth is there is more proof of you being correct in that the screens will be grayscale.

And as for the pictures of the v300 and v600, the person who created this thread said the guy -told- him or her that it was the new V60e that he was testing it. He or she didn't just look at the phone and assume it was the V60e, that's what they were told.

My sources I won't reveal. If I do, that makes me worthless, doesn't it? The truth is you won't find anything until the phone does come out or is -close- to coming out. The release for this phone in the cellular world has about as much anticipation as Playstation 2 did last Christmas season, so business wise, it would be smarter to release this before or right after Thanksgiving. And as a lot of us know, Motorola is real tight-lipped when it comes to releasing information early.

Also, how could the V60e be compatible with the V60i's faceplates if the V60e will have a two line outer LCD? The faceplates of the V60i only have one line viewable.

How did that one Anonymous guy get to post the F-bomb on here? I couldn't even get @ss into one of my posts.

Here's something on the V60e. I hope it's enough for you, G20. Complete with pictures as well.

    Corey,

So what do you think the v60e will feature? Also, what's your guess on price with a contract? If Verizon charges over $200 for it(especially if not color) i will probably go for the v60i(which should be near free when v60e arrives).

    thx

It is -LIKELY- that the phone will be grayscale with selectable background colors. I can't see the V60 with color, but I am just hoping it is. It would also be smart for it to be in color.

Somebody has made this post a few times, and I think it's pretty accurate on what the phone will feature:

The v60e (CDMA: Verizon & Alltel):
    -- CDMA2000 1x
    -- Burst speed to 288 Kb/s
    -- GPS capable
    -- J2ME & Brew Capable
    -- E-911 ready
    -- Stub antenna (Non-extending)
-- Internal screen similar to the quality of the v66
-- Screen background color selectable: Green, Red or Blue Indiglo
    -- Downloadable ringtone capability
-- Individual ringstyle: choose melody for specific incoming caller IDs
-- Retains compatibility with most accessories for V60 series phones

I took out that last line of compatibility with V60i faceplates because this phone will have a two line outer display and I can't see how you can put a V60i faceplate over that.

The question surely isn't whether or not this phone will be $200 or less, it's whether it will be $400 OR MORE. There is no way this phone will be $200, I mean, for Christ's sake, the V60i is still $250 with a two year contract. The V60e will be no cheaper than the T720, at least. I'm positive of that.

Corey, with regard to the V60c, I still think it's a reasonable phone. I just got a new 60c for $185 plus shipping on ebay, as I'm getting onto my family plan and can't get a good with-plan deal, and frankly I don't see the reason to spend at least $50-$70 more for a new v60i. As far as I've seen, there are 4 differences; battery, antenna, software package, and faceplates. The battery doesn't differ enough for what I'll be using it for, the antenna can be changed for under $10 to the 60i antenna, and the software can be updated for free. As for the faceplates... I'm not buying this phone to be pretty. For someone looking for a good deal on a phone that has a lot of functionality, the v60c still has a lot to offer. Hell, maybe in 6 months I'll see if nycom can add a v60e flip to it [IMG].

    CoreytheGent,

Have you heard anything about the talk time/standby time for the v60e?

I am hoping that the talk time/standby time on the v60e will continue to increase as it did from the v60c to the v60i since there will not be a color screen (only color backgrounds).

    Thanks for your help.

As for the V60c response: I wasn't saying the V60c is a horrible phone, I just didn't know people were still buying it.

The battery may improve whether it's color or not. I say -whether- because I have been told by a few sources now that they've seen a color screen version of the V60, so if it's color or not, I am not sure. Perhaps this isn't the last, but instead the V60e will have color selectable backgrounds and the next V60 will be color, who knows?

I know one thing: There is some new battery that's out, an update to Lithium Ion, that's supposed to last a lot longer and soon will become the new standard. Perhaps Motorola is introducing the V60e with this battery? I'm sure it will be better or the same as the V60i.
