I have been hearing alot about this phone for the past few months and decided to do some research on it before I went out and actually bought the phone. I realized that phones do have there pro's and con's to them but the Sanyo 5300 had more of the pro's I liked than the con's. If you like the phone allot like I do but don' t like the whopping price of $399 and with tax (in Alabama 9%) thats over four hundered dollars and frankly I rather not spend that much. I came across the phone on www.amazon.com for a discount of $150.00. But there is a catch to this discount! They are in mail in rebates and I hate mail in rebates but I have seen no where else with a discount like this so... I went ahead and pulled out the credit card =:: ( Gosh I hate doing that. I ordered the phone on Nov. 29 and will receive it on Dec. 10th which is another downside about getting the phone this way becuase I WANT IT NOW!!!!! But oh well I guess I will have to wait this time...

Hello Tata13. I got my 5300 2 weeks ago and couldn't be happier. I had to pay full price (OUCH!) Pulled out the old credit card also. Merry Christmas to me :) You will be very pleased with this phone. I love the camera, and everything else too. I had the Sanyo 4900, which I loved, but I really love the 5300. This phone will be with me for a very long time. I have gone through 5 cell phones in a year and have finally found a keeper. You will be pleased with it I am sure.

I totally agree with amylyn, I just bought this phone, have had it for two days, and I LOVE it. I'm SO happy with it. The camera feature is great, the menu system is one of the most intuitive I've ever seen and the battery life is incredibly suprising, especially with how much I've been playing with the camera. This phone will also sync with with your PC and microsoft outlook for names, phone #'s, etc. (this isn't available yet but I know it's coming, read it on sanyo's website.) Want some really cool pictures and ringtones? go to www.matrixm.com, I now have homer simpson singing "my bologna has a first name, it's H-O-M-E-R...." it's great! Once again: incredibly satisfied with this phone. Definately reccomend it. I'd be totally happy to answer any questions you might have. [IMG]

Oh bedoughty, I have got to go get Homer. I'm heading right over to matrixm.com. Also, I am using my phone as a wireless web modem right as we speak. I bought the cable off of Ebay for $50.00 with the connection software. It didn't come with the sync software for Outlook, etc.... But that's ok. Using it as a modem is great in itself. I love this phone. I've had it for 2 weeks and I still can't stop playing with it. Now I'm off to go get Homer now. Thanks!!!! [IMG]

Always glad to help! [IMG] I actually have a question for you: have you seen the sync software on ebay at all? I'm having a hard time finding it at sanyo's or sprint's website. Interested in picking that up soon...

Thanks everyone for letting me know you all have been pleased with the Sanyo SCP-5300. I'm so excited about getting this phone especially since I have been with CellularOne (soon to be Verizon) for 4 years.
I recently tried filling a claim on a phone I got that would not charge and when it charged it would go dead in less than 3 hours. So I took it up to Cellular One and they told me it was the batteries. So I said, "OK, thats fine I guess every once in a while your going to eventually get a lemon," and I went and bought new batteries since batteries are not covered on the phone insurance. But then two weeks latter the same thing was happening again but this time right before it went dead it would just make a long Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep..... untill it went dead. So I take it back to Cellular One again and they look at it and say , "We added some new software to it and it sould be ok now." Me being the nice person I am I say, "Thank You," then I leave. No more than one month latter the same CRAP was happening again.... this time the DEVIL!!!!!!! is starting to come out of me.... Im only 5"1 and 100lbs. so I guess these people think they can just run all over me. So.... I walk my little self in there, after my phone had just hung up on the Vice President of the bank I work at, and tell them what my phone was doing and do you want to know what the first thing out of his mouth was? he said "Oh,,,, umm,,, its the batteries." I was like,,,, what the HELL!!!!!!! These are brand spanking new batteries." He then takes the phone apart and tells me that the charger parts isn't attached to the board. I said, "What ever, how many times are yall going to make me come in here before yall will finnaly get me another phone!"
And I had allways wondered why they had a Class Act law suit on them... Cause they are nothing more than deceitful liars!!!!!

But hopefully I won't have this problem with Srint since I've herd good things about them.

I've been with 3 providers and I used to work at Circuit City so I had customers coming in from a lot of other cell phone companies... it seems to me that Sprint doesn't really pull a lot of stunts like that. But to be entirely honest, these companies don't train the goons that you and I meet in the stores anymore. Most of the time, when you walk into a Sprint or Verizon or T-Mobile or whoever's store, those people have only been trained how to take payments, (because, bottom line, that's all that matters to these companies) and teach you how to add a new entry into your phone book. Every now and then you might get lucky and get ahold of a person who works for the company cuz they really actually love this stuff like we do so they actually want to work with cell phones and help people, you know? It's not just another job to them. I'm not trying to paint some dismal picture for you here though, because like I said I haven't really heard of Sprint pulling the stunts that verizon does, and I worked at Circuit City for a long time so I've heard boatloads of customer testimonies as well. They've always treated me well. About 3 weeks ago, (before I bought this phone) sprint left a voicemail telling me that they're going to offer me unlimited vision data service from now on... I have NO clue why they did that but hey I'll take it! Especially since I found that pictures/ringer website www.matrixm.com I tell you that site's going to run me into the ground... they have the coolest and funniest ringers there. Anyways, I really hope you enjoy the phone when you get it, and if you got questions on the phone ask away.

bedoughty, there is one on ebay right now. Starting bid is $30.00. Better than what I got because it comes with the sync software also. Here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1944415571
Hey, if you get it let me know. I'm in need of the sync software. [IMG] I paid $50.00 without the sync software. Bummer [IMG]

Shoot, it's not the actual syncing software I'm looking for to use with outlook. Yea the ringers 'n stuff are cool, but I get a lot of those from matrixm.com... I don't know, I bookmarked it and I might bid if it's not like, over $50 towards the end. Then at least I'll have the data cable... but what I want the most is that outlook sync software. But thanks for the link! This is a great start...
