Yes! Sanyo scheduled to release two phones with PTT for Sprint PCS! What are they? Well I donno how to put pictures on here (sadly ), but the first one will be the SCP-7200. It's a candybar-style phone with a rugged appeal (with blue and black color styling), color screen, Java downloadable applications, 1xRTT high-speed data, speakerphone, and voice dialing. The other one is the SCP-5400. It's a flip-phone with speaker-phone, dual color displays, an extra-large main display, voice dialing, and Java. It's more for the business people who need a PTT, with the other phone for people who work in more industrial fields. But when I figure out out to put pics on here I'll post them!
Yea those are it.. but I got the info from a friend who works for Sprint a sprint store in Massachusetts. Then I confirmed it at Phonescoop because I know how salespeople can be wrong sometimes, eventhough he's a friend . But yea can't wait to try one!
According to a huge thread over on sprintusers.com there is also another Sanyo coming out - with PTT with speaker (can be used closed), VGA camera, 15 sec video, SMS, dual 65k TFT screens, and 32 chord ringers. It looks like the 5400 and should be out before Christmas. Initial price is $399. - sheureka
I wonder if PTT will be the Death Knell for NexTel? My friends who have NetTel just hate it. When I call them, I OFTEN get a automated message such as "Please wait while we locate the Nextel subscriber." Usually after a pause, the call is connected. Wierd. The only compelling feature NexTel had was the PTT feature - For businesses, the cellular phone could be disabled so only the PTT works. That is an effective way to keep employees from yaking on personal calls if that is a problem. With Verizon (now) and Sprint (soon) offering PTT, why would anybody stay with Nextel? Just wondering... -Mark
Yea I get that message too when I call my father's Nextel phone. And people would still stay with Nextel, possibly, for the iDEN technology and the bigger, nationwide PTT network. And they have a bigger range of nice phones (especially the i730 coming out soon). But regardless, all PTT phones are bulky so I don't see a reason to leave Nextel, then again why stay when there are others?
Actually the one for Sprint and Verizon arent NEAR as bulky as nextels. The V60p for Verizon is only SLIGHTY thicker than other v60's
Also Nextels larger range of phones is only a temporary perk. Once Verizon and Sprint establish their PTT service they will pump out more phones. the A690 on the way for Verizon, as well as Kyocera making a statement that they are working on developing CDMA PTT phones for Q1 next year. Also, the PTT service areas will be growing for Verizon, (i am not so sure about sprint) they have basically completed changing over their whole network to 1x (which is where their PTT service works). Finally with Verizon even if you dont have 1x service (for PTT calls) at least you can still make calls with the phone where with Nextel if you dont have PTT service you dont have any service. (which happens quite frequently)
If you ask me I would probably go with Nextel sence they were the first and built-up trust in people. Verizon I would'nt get because they dont have a good choice in phones and, well, I don't like Verizon. Sprint I might try but not likely. Lol... I wonder what Motorola iDEN feels now that all these companies (E.G. Sanyo and Samsung) are making PTT phones now.
Does anyone have any new information on where Sprint PTT is as of now? Its supposed to be out by the end of the year I believe but I have not heard any new news since Verizon launched their PTT. So if anyone has any insight as to when this may be launched I am sure it would be appreciated!
Look for Sprints PTT in mid to late november. It would be a bad marketing decision to launch such a service IN december. Not really. Nextel has of course been around longer, but Sprint will have a larger PTT network. Sprint already has the largest digital footprint in the US, and when PTT is rolled out, it will be nationwide.
Sorry for the double post, but be on the lookout for the 4900 to be re-released this holiday season, with PTT!!! YAY!!
I just found a couple of web sites that looks like it will be out the 17 of Nov. those site are http://sprintuser.com and sprintpcsinfo.com also the prices of the phone and prices for the Readylink, also that was a link for the manual of sanyo 7200 in pdf form...7 more days hopefully...but of course there may be delays like verizon and there ptt phones...
The 7200 and the 5400 should be in Radioshack store either on the 13th or 14th. Those shipping dates are definate. I still don't have any pricing, but i've been hearing 229 for the 7200 and 249-299 for the 5400.
Both the 7200 and 5400 should retail at 299.99 with up to a $150 rebate on a two year. You should see them in stores the 16th or 17th. As for the 5500, the last I heard it will retail at 399.99, but probably won't be out until the 2nd or 3rd week in December.
It seems some people already have these PTT phones! The 5400 looks really nice, but I have no use for PTT, so I won't be considering it.
Same with me... the PTT feature sounds nice. But I'm not going to pay and extra $100-$200 for it. Not like I own a business or anything
You wont have to, its only $15 a month $5 plus with Vision AND there are $150 INSTANT rebates when signing up! AND CHECK THIS OUT! all secondary lines are FREE of access fee for 3 months!! YES FREE!!!
Yea it's a pretty good deal. I also saw that Sprint made their little nifty name for their PTT service. "Ready Link". So now everyone has a name. Push-To-Talk, Ready Link, and Direct Connect lol. Don't see how that matters or anything...
Yea I know! They just named it what it is universally called in any carrier PushToTalk. I think Verizon is taking advantage of their really good network to slack on phones, good deals, and catchy names. They need to speed up with the other companies offering 7pm nights, 3-day weekends, a name like Ready Link, the Motorola V600, etc.
