Hello everyone! This is my 1st post so please be nice (lol) I have done alot of research in here on which phone and service would fit my needs the best and I made my choice. I picked Sprint with a Sanyo 4900 phone because of being in alot of areas that my other phone (nextel) would not get service in or calls that would drop off.

Now to my question, I go into settings on the phone and look under Version and it say Software 1.045sp Hardware 0101. Is this the lastest version for this phone? Is their somewhere on the web that tells me what the lastest version?

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks,
    DrSeuss

Several of the posts mention 1.047sp as being the lastest software version.

1.0.45sp is the original software version which was quickly replaced with 1.0.47sp. I made the mistake of buying one with the older version. When I took it into the Sprint store for an upgrade they refused saying it was dangerous to try to update this model because many had fried in the process. They told me to come back in a couple of weeks. It is a very important update to get if you plan on using Vision and downloading things.

Just got back from Sprint store and gave them my phone to update the software and after a few minutes the man came out with my phone and a box with a new phone. I ask was their anything wrong and he just said "We are giving you a new phone" (lol) I guess something went wrong when they tried to flash the new software version onto my phone.

Maybe someone can help me with this question also. I went to pcspix.com and uploaded a pic. Then used my phone to connect to their website and all I get is the text description about their website. Never could find a place to download my pic from or a place to put my username and password. Is there a specail url to use or what am I doing wrong?

I hope Sprint comes up with a better way of upgrading the 4900's software, other than by giving out a new phone. At that rate they'll either stop releasing software upgrades or stop manufacturing the phone! :)

Sounds like they fried your phone. I was warned about trying to update the software on the 4900. For some reason they don't know how to do it properly and they even refused to do it on mine. The older 2G phones were easily updated. I hope they can work this out soon.

I had this same thing happen to me when I took mine in to update it to 1.047SP. They said they couldn't do it, but offered to give me a phone with the new version. Fortunately, they were able to save my phonebook and put it in the new phone. I do hope when it comes time to upgrade again that I don't have to exchange my phone again.
