Sanyo 4900 -- Any problems with Sound Quality?

    Hi all,

    Here's my situation --
I've found that with my new Sanyo 4900, sometimes when I am speaking to someone, the voice that I hear on my phone seems kind of tinny, or muffled. It's definitely not clear, and it's hard to understand what the other person is saying.

I've had this phone a couple of weeks, and this seems to be a problem with this phone.

Other than that, I love this phone......so I'd like to know, is ANYONE out there having the same problem? Are there any complaints at all about the quality of the sound coming out of the earpiece of the phone? (My reception/SIGNAL BARS is great!! It's just the sound coming out of the earpiece that isn't so good!!)

Any chance I have a defective phone?

    Thanks!!

As you can read in several posts to other threads around the
last half of August, the Sanyo 4900 earpiece is very
unforgiving. It is rather unidirectional and picky as to
what position it must be in near your ear for you to hear
    anything well.

You will want to experiment with how and where you hold your
phone up to your ear to learn the only position that works
for you. Then all you have to do is ALWAYS hold the phone
to your ear in that same position. This is maybe the major
complaint about this phone. It IS rather annoying!

If this does not pan out, then maybe your particular phone is
    defective

You have to hold any phone a certain way to your ear to get the best sound. I have found that to be true with every phone I've ever used.

Coming from a flip phone I've never had to hold the phone a particular way to get the best sound. The 4900 however does place the ear speaker way at the very top of the phone which makes it difficult to hear if you don't make a mental note to place your ear nearest the top of the phone. It took some getting used to for me as the ear piece on my previous phone was more centralized. I originally found myself putting the screen to my ear and wondering why I couldn't hear anyone ;-) Now that I've grown accustomed to it I have no prbs.

I have not heard any problems with this phone. It is an excellent phone. You may just have a bad handset.

have the scp-4900 and absolutely love it, but the only
complaint so far is the speakerphone. I can hear great on it but when I talk, the other person complains that I am cutting out while on the speakerphone. Anyone else having
    this problem?

You posted the same message under the topic "Thinking of buying Sanyo 4900." You may want to look there for additional info.

Try using the speakerphone with the keypad facing upwards. Since doing this, I have not heard any complaints from the other end. The speaker will still be loud and clear even though it's facing downwards.
