My sister is a new Florida Voicestream customer. She is now in San Francisco and her phone says Cingular. Is that what it should be saying now?

That's fine. VoiceStream/T-Mobile is sharing the network in California with Cingular. So unless you have a new phone and SIM card that has T-Mobile on it, that's what your phone will always read in CA/NV. As long as she's on a nationwide plan, it's free.

no worries... as matt said, as long as your on the nationwide plan it's like using it at home. what the phone reads and says depends on your phone as well as on your sim.

    e.g. my

    t-mobile sim

    reads

    t-mobile on my t-mobile phone
    Cingular on a cingular phone
    Roaming on my Siemens S-40
Pac Bell on my old Pac Bell / Cingular Nokia

    Cheers

    C.
