Went to visit a good friend in San Diego this weekend. I was in the Lemon Grove area, about 10 east of downtown San Diego.

AT&T was a solid full bars. I never once noticed a signal fluctuation. Strong quality all around.

Verizon was about 2 to 3 bars most of the time. I had no difficulty with call connection or quality, but their was noticeable signal fluctuation.

T-Mobile was quite strong. There was occasional signal fluctuation, but usually from full signal to moderate. I had mostly a full signal for the entire time I was there.

I don't have Sprint, but my friend has Virgin Mobile and his phone showed full bars constantly. I'm not surprised as Sprint is extremely strong throughout most of SoCal.

Overall it was a great trip and mobile service there is pretty darn good...:D

    Yeah right!!!:lmao:

But I did see a few of their measly stores...With the major carriers being as strong as they are, I can't understand why anyone would want to go with Cricked. I don't care how inexpensive they are, I'd stick with the big guys. You can get prepaid carriers that offer much better service than Cricket could ever offer.

I guess the days of new carriers entering CA and putting up real cell sites are over. :D

Ain't it the truth. And with all of the NIMBY issues as well, it'll never happen.

I was in SD last month, downtown and even went to Lemon Grove, Chula Vista, La Jolla, Otay Mesa, Scripps Ranch.

I found more bars on ATT vs Verizon, but when I turned on my HP Service Monitor, I found that the signal levels where about the same.

I had a 4 dropped calls with ATT and some choppy audio on parts of the 8 around La Mesa, and a few issues on the 163 and the 52. On Highway 94 between Spring Valley and South of Jamul, I had a few dead more dead spots with ATT, but overall it was pretty good.

Just out of curiosity, how is overall signal and call quality on the iPhone? Is this the phone you used AT&T on in San Diego?

I think it is adequate, I need to purchase a different ATT Phone and switch between them for testing. I get more choppy audio and dropped calls then I have with Verizon.
Hopefully when I get another GSM phone I can see if it is the phone or the network.

I prefer any of my Verizon phones.

I was in SD last summer and spent most of my time near MCRD. Verizon did well with the exception of one location...the Bay View Restaurant. My alltel phone switched to Sprint inside the restaurant.
