OKay, Thanks to everyone's advice, I have decided I'm okay w/o trimode. I've narrowed my choices to these:
    Samsung A530 or A670, or LG VX6000.

I realize A530 is w/o camera. Don't need one; though it would be fun. All three meet my criteria.

Looking for the best overall of the three in terms of reception, clarity, durability. This will be my first VZW phone.

Many thanks for the advice and discussion thus far; looking forward to lots of feedback on this one.

    Thanks you!!!

Sorry for crosspost; but no feedback on 1st post Thanks again :(

Can you please give us some general info. as to where you live (you might want to add it to your User CP so it's always visible) and typically travel? This will allow us to tailor our responses to your actual needs. Alternately, have you tried posting at Howard Forums (for manufacturers)?

Sure, sorry; I had put this in earlier posts (and will update profile) but I figured people would be sick of my questions by now, and wanted to get straight to the point. Live in NNJ, travel to NY, CT and Maine, mostly. The areas look well covered by VZW, and or roaming partners. Studied the maps, and coverage locators well.

I definitely want the clamshell form with the 2nd display. I'm going from ATTWS to VZW for more coveerage and most of my family is on VZW. I'd like some fun features on the phone, but I'd also wantthe qualities I mentioned in my earlier post (clarity, good reception, durablity) Of my criteria, these three came in best in Phonescoop and other reviews.

Thanks again for any opinion on these three; I am pretty close to a decision.

The only practical advice that I can offer is to evaluate each phone during VZW's 14-day trial period. DO NOT port your old # at first - wait until you are satisfied with both the phone and the service (you can port as long as your AWS service is still active).

Thanks, and for your other advice! I've actually decided to go ahead with (ordered) the A670; will try it out; and thanks--I didn't realize about later porting, but I won't cancel ATTWS till I'm sure I like VZW.

    Thanks again

I would have gotten the 670 as well. It has a decent price on a 2 year contract. The other two phones you mentioned are over a year old now and are almost the same amount of money. :)

yeah thast a lot of what i was giong to say. I also just got the 670 and love it. Since Verizon is charging around the same price for these 3 phones this one definately comes out on top in the features category. having now been the owner of all 3 of these phones I think you definately made the right choice! (though the fact that the a530 was gold when i had it definately makes me biased against it)

Ohhhh...... I'm so bummed that you bought a phone before I could write... I was rushing to register for the forum!

Anyway, I just got the LG VX 4600 in the mail yesterday and it FREAKIN ROCKS!!!! It's supposed to be the 6000 without the camera, and you said you didn't care for the camera. It's the coolest looking phone ever - it's an "internet only" purchase from Verizon (I got it on eBay). It also had excellent reviews on PhoneScoop.com.

Oh well.... I'm sure you'll love what you go anyway! Good luck!

Thanks Foster, for trying, aand everyone else, too. The 4600 was an earlier contender for me, and sounded great; my concern was around the phonescoop reviews that mentioned no "handsfree" and NJ just passed a "no hands/phone while driving" law; maybe a headset would have alleviated the problem (don't know), but that was why I took it out of the equation. Good luck with your new one; I can tell how thrilled you are! :thumb:

Glad to be of assistance. I forgot to mention one thing: Since you are considering 2 phones it would be wise to get one of them from a local Verizon Company Store because that would make exchanging simpler as well as not eat days out of the 2-week trial period for return shipping. Sigh. But it sounds as though you are "expectantly" (j/k ;) ) happy with the Samsung A670. I hope that everything works out for you. :thumb:

I also just got the a670 and am pleasantly surprised...I just gave up my Moto v60i & didn't think anything could make me happier...glad to see I was wrong! :p
