Has anyone tried this phone out? I've read a loooot of bad reviews but when I messed around with it at the actual Alltel 'store' I loved it, but keep in mind I couldn't judge the call quality or the ability to play mp3s. I'm having a tough time deciding between this or the LG 'Wave'. I played around with the 'Wave' and it felt very cheap. It was very light (in a bad way) and lagged horribly. So I'm curious as to which one is better? I've also thought about the RAZR2. Do you think it would be a good investment at the moment, or should I wait on that phone?
I would advise you to take a look at either of the other phones besides the Wafer from experience. I got an early model Wafer and the call quality is pretty poor. The person on the listening end of the call often complains about echos and muffled call quality. Also, I will often hear static or broken-sounding calls when on the phone. I am not sure if it is my phone, but my guess would say it is.. The Wafer does have pretty good build quality and cool features and small size, but if the call quality issues haven't been fixed I would advise against it. Many other people that I've talked to with the Wafer complain of the same problems as well. If you have talked to someone that says the problems have been fixed, then go for it. As for the other phones, I think that either one would probably be a better bet. Good luck.
This was what I was afraid of hearing! Doesn't Alltel have a period between the purchase of the phone in which you can bring it back and trade-in for another?
I don't know a lot about the Wafer, some people seem to hate it, some love it. I think there were a couple software upgrades and even a hardware upgrade in later models that was suppose to eliminate the echo. If you really want that phone, I would advise to go ahead with it, but if you experience any of these issues and are unhappy, return it within the 15 day trial. But I will say that I love the Wave. I don't really know what you mean by laggy?? It is like there's a split-second delay between the time I type in a number and hear the touch tone. But overall I really like it. My only complaint is that Celltop doesn't work on it, and there's no way to change the menu keys. You might want to make sure that Celltop is working if you get a new one. I don't know if there's been a software update to correct the issue yet or not. And it does feel light, but it also feels tough. I really like the outer coating on the phone, though it's bad for fingerprints and small scratches. But the hinge has been rock solid imo, which is always a strongpoint of LG phones. The Razr2 is by far the nicest. IMO, it's a new phone and not quite worth the price tag just yet. But the price will probably drop soon. If money isn't a concern, go with it though.
They do, it is 15 days. I just used it for a family member when they changed their mind on a phone on a line on my account this past month.
Ok, thanks for the info about the 15-day policy! I think this will be my plan: 1) Buy Wafer, get it up-to-date, if there is an echo or bad quality call, take advantage of 15-day trial! 2) If Wafer fails, early Christmas present of Razr2 or just get a 'wave'. also thanks for your info on the 'wave', maybe I will just have to mess with it some more. give it a second chance.
In all honesty wait tell Christmas time if you can there are going to be prices drops by then I am thinking. Also maybe there will be some newer phones out as well.
The only problem with waiting is that I currently own a Blackberry and I have to get rid of that extra data plan + unlimited texting by Oct. 16 or I'm just out of a phone. I would honestly LOVE to wait because I know as soon as I get my phone, it's going to be one of the ones that gets phased out and replaced by something much nicer for the same price. happens everytime.
15 days and 1 hour and 30 minutes or less of talk time and in good condition to return. I honestly haven't heard that many complaints from my friend who has one.
