I have a user that has a Samsung Wafer and she is having a terrible problem with callers hearing their echo. I have had her turn the volume down to the lowest setting and they are still hearing the echo. Does anyone have any suggestions, or is this a possible early software issue?
I am having the same issue with my phone, and when I went into Alltel for reception issues they said other people were also having the problem but did not have a solution. I got a replacement phone from what I can tell so far the reception problem is gone but I believe the echo is still here. Hope a solution comes soon I really like this phone.
Ive seen this issue in about 1/2 of Wafers Sold. If it keeps up at this rate there should be a software patch out soon. Interesting tidbit...the Samsung a645 Pascal has seen some echoing issues also...
I just got a new Wafer yesterday and I really do love the phone. However, my girlfriend does complain of hearing herself echo when talking to me. I don't notice any echoes though. It must be a relatively common problem.
Just got the Echo... err I mean Wafer... yesterday. The phone is AMAZING and packed with features. Unfortunately, the echo issue is its curse. I was told by the Alltel reps that the return rate on the phone is near 100%, as almost every phone sold has experienced echo issue. They are still selling their first shipment of phones, so these are the first to hit the floor. The echo is a half-second delay, which is heard only by the individual who is not using the Wafer. The echo is only experienced in half the calls made, and can be intermittently noticed in the duration of a call. In some calls, the echo is noticed at first, but is tuned out shortly after. What I can't get over is the RESTRICTION of setting your own mp3s as ringtones. What's more, is that I can't even get the mp3s which I transfer via storage card to be detected. Also, other phones cannot detect the Wafer when looking for bluetooth devices, though the phone is discoverable. I read elsewhere that only Samsungs can detect the Wafer. These restrictions aren't much like Alltel, but I guess that's what comes with every step as Alltel tries to be more like VZW. I'm pretty sure I'll return this and go back to a RAZR.
yea, this phone is horrible....I thought it was pretty sweet until every other person I talked to asked me why they were echoing when I talked to them.....I went back to a razr too....which I hate, but at least there is no echo problem and I can use my own mp3's as ringtones.....hopefully Samsung fixes this problem with the wafer, but I think too many people have had a bad experience and it will die a quick death and disappear quickly.
Actually the echo issue has already been fixed so I'm not exactly sure of the problem you are having but I do agree the phone is a big piece of crap. People were always asking me what was wrong as they couldn't hear me so i said the hell with it and went back to my Moto V262
This is correct. There was a software update, AE21, which sort of fixed the echo issue. Samsung is currently testing upgraded hardware to fix the issue completely. There is no ETA on new echo-less handsets at this time.
I hope this is true. I performed the first software update, but it did nothing to resolve the problem. I do have one of the first Wafers to have come to my store, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. If the echo issue were fixed, I really would like the phone. I also would have returned it but I did not become aware of the issue until it was too late to return it.
It is information I received directly from Alltel regarding the Wafer. The weird thing is that the echo issue does not seem to affect all Wafers. I know a guy who bought a Wafer a week or so after they came out, prior to the software upgrade, and he has never had an issue with echo. Weird.
