I wanted to let everyone who has posted anything on this subject. I thank you all for the help. It is definitely frustrating trying to figure the formats on the ringtones... your posting helped me to customize and make my own ringtones for my T809. Thanks again for all the help!

    Your advices are great!
Now how would you download a part of a DVD video onto the phone? I've tried to use your suggestion, but it only works (at least for me) for short clips that I've downloaded from the Net.
    Thanks!

to make everything go smoother.. you need to use the card reader to transfer your file to the memory card(by the way.. 1 gig work real good), it's also faster then using the data cable. your phone seems to read your file better when you change your file to .3gp and transfer through the card reader. now you can set it to ringtone.
For uploading movie.. use the total video converter to change your file to mobile mp4, also setting it to fit 650mb by 320x240. after just transfer it through the card reader and to your memory card. then you can watch movies on your samsung t-809..

Can someone please let me know if the volume for their ringtones is also too low compared to other phones? I have trouble hearing my ringtone sometimes because it is too low. Anyway to change that to get it better, beside the obvious increase in volume button?

I am having a hard time getting movies to fit on my phone. How can I get a movie I rip from a DVD onto my phone? I can rip it using DVD shrink, but then how do I get it small enough to fit on the phone? Can I turn it into a 3gp from there or is there another step? I would really appreciate a walkthrough on this.

And does anyone know anything about the question I asked in this thread about making incoming SMS messages save to the phone memory by default? I'm amazed there's no option on this for this phone!

I'm sorry if my questions have already been answered in this topic, but alot of the replies are in different colors, single paragraphs, and is giving me a headache. I hate to sound like a baby, but it's driving me crazy. I think it's because I am cranky that I can't get my damn phone to do what I want it to.

    Anyways, my question is;

    1) When I select the F drive (my phone) it either tells me to a) insert a drive or b) asks me to format it. Is it supposed to be asking this when my phone is connected to my computer through the USB?

Hi everyone! I want to mention that i bought mine here in Argentina, and my phone doesn't seem to have the mp3 issue for the ringtones, i did that with no probs! It must be a firmware thing i suppose, i guess in time when people start flashing it, it may be changed in those versions with this problem.

I want to ask if anyone knows if there's a program to use the phone as a remote control for the PC, so far i tried "Bluetooth Remote Control" but when i try to install the java client in the phone it doesn't recongize the .jar or the .jad extension. I tried the same program in the SE W600i and it worked. Could that be a "con" of my phone's firmware related to java? Maybe i shoud install it on some specific way? (i simply transfered the file to the phone via BT)

    Any ideas or suggestions?
    thanks!!

PD: For those who want to wacth videos on the t809, its a good tip to press the "1" key on the phone during playback, it does it in fullscreen nicely!!

    Re: Samsung T809 RINGTONE

your problably doing what i was doing wrong this works go open your folder with your mp3 songs when your window is open ( go to tools ->folder options->View -> then uncheck the hide extensions for known file types ) after you do that the mp3 will show the extension ex:songname.mp3 instead of just songname you then rightclick rename and just erase .mp3 and put .3gp when you do that a pop up box will apear and say (if you change a file name extension, the file may become unusable. are you sure you want to change it ) click yes and tadda is done then if not already on your phone copy paste it to your phone using your phone as usb mass storage don't use it as a modem as it will take to long to transfer. you dont need to use the samsung studio pc.. uhh unless you don't have windows if you have a mac im not sure how to do that

I try this it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong.

    Hi fester99,

I am new to this forum and i was looking for the solution in google
and found you through that and registered in this forum, got the max solution.

Basically, i was trying to set a song in to ring tone.
And couldn't do it. Also, as per your instructions, gone through each step.
At the 7th option, it did not show any pop up and went to folder options
in the tools menu and click the view tab scroll down and the box hide extensions
for known file types is CHECKED then UNCHECKED,applied click ok.

    Followed 8th to 10.

In the 11th option fid followed and coould not see "H. Select Set As"

and i was not able to complete.

I know you are giving spoon feeding, but i coudn't make it. Please give me some more advice.

    Thanks,
    Aksha.

How to setup a song as a Ring Tone in Samsung T809

Follow the below easy steps to setup the song as a ring tone.

    In your phone
click on menu>settings>phonesettings>Usb settings> select Mass storage radio button, then click on save.

    On your computer

Copy the songs from your mp3 folder or CD in to a new folder, name it whatever you like.

Open the song cutter( there are some evaluation version software in the net, search in internet, download and and install it)
Select the song from where to where
( approx 30( it will ring only 5, if you need more select extra seconds)

Cut the song(do not forget the location where it is saving)
open the 3gp conver ( you will find in the internet, download it and install it)

Drag and drop the song( which you just cut the song)
    after completion of the conversion
( it will not take more then 10 seconds), it will save it on your desk top or your specified location
    Close the convertor
Hook up the phone to your computer
Copy the converted 3gp song in to removable storage in mucic folder.
    Then unhook the phone.

    In the phone again
Look for the song which you just copied from your computer
(in my phone it copied in music folder)
Select the song, and set it as a ring tone.

It works for me as above steps.

    Thanks
    Aksha.
