I used the a free program called 3GP_Converter and set it up with 3GPP+AAC General settings. Run the software and convert to QVGA (320x240) Normal quality 15fps stereo. and as for the size i have a divx movie that is 700MB originally compressed in the program and the formatted one was only 120 MB for the phone and still looks almost dvd quality so you might be able to squeeze even 2 movies on there or a bunch of short clips , as for the songs most my songs are downloaded(already mp3) but for the wave files i have ripped from cd's using anything like windows media player i simply convert them to mp3 using and audio converter,as for how many songs fit in a 512 depending the size but over a 100 songs fit for sure also the phone has 4 play lists that you can add your songs from the memory card or phone from it simply creates a type of short cut each play list holds about 37 songs this way you can loop or shuffle your songs in what ever order you want.hope that answered most your question also just look at the post above you and you might find some of the questions i answer him helpfull to you to :browani:

It's cool glad to help man, and yes that is correct you can add a bunch of stuff from your computer to it such as mp3s,pictures,gif images to use as animated wallpaper ,movies , porn, i even made my own web site and i can go to it via t-zones and download short mp3 clips, Animated wallpapers i made or have on the site and short video clips directly to the phone now remember on things like movies you have to compress them to the right file so they can play which is 3gp or mp4 which is good cause it makes a 700MB movie into a about 120 MB movie better being that other wise it wouldn't fit in your card right :browani: and if you want the wall papers to be fullscreen you have to resize them to 240x320 stuff like that it of course has voice notes so you can record yourself then use that as a ringtone or just use the mp3's as a ringtone ( you do have to save the mp3 to your phone and change it to 3gp to use it as a ringtone though) it easy if you get it ill teach you also what i do is i just cut 30 seconds out of the song i want as a ringtone and use that, 2 reasons one your ringer only plays for 30 seconds anyway, and 2 its only about 260kb which since its going to be save to your phone is less space it comes with software to do this so no worry also something cool instead of just picture id for callers it has movie id so you can set it up for when your friend calls her video you took pops up playing so thats cool :browani: what else oh and i had the sidekick 2 before this to so your in for a treat aside from the fact that it had full web access, this phone is much better and theres more but just read the post before your's cause i answered it there for some other memberBelow i have 2 attachments for you to see 1 is a wallpaper i made out of 2 pics of the phone just click it and 2 is a video i took at work with my phone of my friend acting stupid forget whats on the video, its just so you can see the quality of the video if it doesn't work when you click it just download it cause i had to change the file extension in order to upload it (just right click and click save target as)

about the wallpapers yea you can make your own doing stupid things ect.. and bout the video there is one more resolution that is bigger on the phone but the quality is about the same i use this one cuase its the original size for fullscreen on the phone and yea the quality isn't that bad you gotta remember its a phone not a digital camera it actually comes close to some old digital cameras if you compare it to the nokia video that only records 13 sec and when put on your computer is the same size as on the cellphone then its way better and when you use the other size it still records a long time

Go download http://www.nurs.or.jp/~calcium/3gpp/3GP_Converter034.zip and set it up with 3GPP+AAC General settings. Run the software and convert to QVGA (320x240) Normal quality 15fps stereo. those are the exact instructions

What does the error message say cause it does work i do it all the time you did extract all the files then in that folder you will see 2 green 3gp little boxes one says 3gp converter.exe the other says setup.exe click on the one that says setup and set it up exactly like i sent you when you click the setup.exe it opens and displays a buch of settings scroll to the top and choose 3GPP+AAC General setting then at the bottom in the description box it will say It is a setting that turns to a general, recent cellular phone. then just click apply now exit and now you will click the other green box that says 3gp_converter.exe when thats open choose this QVGA Normal quality 15fps stereothen just drag and drop the movie you want to convert their are a couple that might not work but almost all of them do (oh and bout the headphones no you can't just use any it's special ones it does come with them there also used as a headpiece to talk there not bad or if you have a bluetooth headset you can listen to music wirelessly

i did it EXACTLY WORD FOR WORD again just how you said.
i even tried it with a couple diffrent clips.
and i still got the same error.

A>Dialog : An error has occured during the process. [Error:-2048]
A>Dialog : An error has occured during the process. [Error:-2048]

what i think is the error is that im trying to save the converted clip onto my computer. do i have to download it straight to the cell?

Does anyone know where to find any software programs or applications for the T809? I know this phone is fairly new, so I'm guessing there isn't much available yet, but if anyone knows of anything please let me know!
    Thanks!

The Internet on the T809 was a disappointment to me. I had the Sidekick 2 right before the T809 and really liked the Internet browser/features that it (Sidekick) came with. Browsing the Internet on the T809 is difficult and annoying.

You're asking about the T809, right? I haven't been able to view full web pages on it, but I haven't had it long so there may be a way to. So, far it seems as if there's just a number of webpages that are designed for mobile web viewing that can be viewed. For example, the Yahoo Mail page is just a bunch of different Yahoo links in a list kept very simple and basic for faster loading. I hate the fact that when you leave T-Zones to check a text message or other phone option it completely closes the connection. You basically have to start over from the beginning if you want to do other things on the phone while your browsing. The Sidekick was great as far as that. I could browse a webpage, go check a text message, make a call, send an IM through AOL messenger, then go back to the Internet browser and the page is still there.

I really wish I could just design my own phone. Some phones are nice and have cool extras but are lacking in other options. Top of the line camera/camera options, Sidekick style Internet browser and chatting service, bluetooth, USB capable, memory card, full keyboard and regular dial pad, email, Word Processing programs, MP3 player, headphones, etc are the options I want! Someone needs to come out with the perfect phone that has everything! I would buy it for sure!

When you say the "3gp method" do you mean that all you did was change the file extension from .mp3 to .3gp? Everything I have read says that is all you have to do. (aside from shortening the file to 30 seconds because that is all the phone will ring)

are you using the modem or the usb setting on the phone?
it has to be in the mass storage mode. Here is a How-To i made for this:

To make a ring tone compatible on a T809 all you have to do is change the extension from .mp3 to .3gp before you move it to your phone. Do this by finding the file in your folder, then go to folder options in the tools menu and click the view tab scroll down and make sure the box marked hide extensions for known file types is UNCHECKED then apply and click ok. Then go to the file you want to change and right click select rename and delete the .mp3 and put .3gp in its place, after doing this correctly windows will prompt "if you change a file extension the file may become unusable" -{side note make sure the files that you are changing are copies of the original just in case you should always have a backup}- click ok. Now your file is ready for your phone. However, your phone has to be in USB mode "mass storage" and be a removable drive on your computer. To change the mode on your phone go to menu -- phone settings -- Usb settings – select mass storage, then Just drag and drop the .3gp file to your phone's music folder (open the removable drive on your computer and you should see your phone’s folders it really doesn’t matter where you put the files on the card but you have to remember so you can navigate to it on your phone later) and it will be put on the trans flash card, then go to menu -- fun & apps -- file manager -- memory card -- music -- highlight the file you want to select as a ringer then choose options and select set as and then select ringtone or caller ring tone. Hope this helps someone.

made a better how to that is a little more in depth sorry about the last post i could not edit it out.
    How To:
Make your own mp3 ringtones work on a Samsung Sgh-T809 Cell Phone

First you will need a few things:

    1) An mp3 file you want to put as your ringer. I will assume you have already made a clip or cut your song to fit the 30 second ringtone length. You can have the whole mp3 on your phone but unless you will be using it in the mp3 player on the phone why waste the space. DON’T FORGET TO BACK UP YOUR FILE BEFORE DOING ANYTHING HERE. I have had no issues but don’t want to be blamed for lost files.
    2) A data cable (I don’t have Bluetooth on my computer so I have not tried this method)
    3) Of course your t809 with the TransFlash or MicroSD card inserted

    Ok now lets start
    1. Find your mp3’s you want to use and make a new folder and copy all of the mp3s that you will use as ring tones to that folder. MAKE SURE TO COPY AND NOT MOVE THESE FILES.
    2. Navigate on your computer to that folder and right click and select new text document.
    3. Rename the new document something like “mp3 to 3gp conversion.bat” as long as you have the .bat extension you will be ok. A popup from windows will come up and say "if you change a file extension the file may become unusable" click ok.
    4. Now right click the new file and click “edit” DO NOT double click or right click open as you will not be able to do any thing with it.
    5. Now type this in REN *.3GP *.MP3 or you can cut and paste it This will allow this file to convert all of your .mp3 file extensions to a .3gp file extension, only within the folder it is in, DO NOT FOR ANY REASON PUT THIS IN YOUR MP3 FOLDER FOR YOUR MUSIC ONLY PUT IT IN THE FOLDER FOR MAKING YOUR RING TONES so it will work on the t809.
    6. Now save that file.
    7. Now simply double click on that file. As a note I have Microsoft anti-apyware and it pops up a warning about are you sure you want to run this script click yes. Basically what we are doing with this script is just renaming the extension to .3gp from .mp3 if you are not happy with this easy method you can do all of this work: you don’t have to do the following if you will be using the script we just made this is only for people who want to do it the hard way so if you will use the script we made just go to step 8.
    A. Assuming you are already in the folder with your mp3s to use as ring tones, go to folder options in the tools menu and click the view tab scroll down and make sure the box marked hide extensions for known file types is UNCHECKED then apply and click ok.
    B. Then go to the file you want to change and right click select rename and delete the .mp3 and put .3gp in its place, after doing this correctly windows will prompt "if you change a file extension the file may become unusable"
    C. Repeat step B for every mp3 file you want to change to 3gp
    8. Now that we have our mp3s renamed to 3gps we will set up the phone. On your phone we have to change the usb mode to “mass storage”
    A. Hit Menu
    B. Select Settings
    C. Select Phone Settings
    D. Select Usb settings
    E. Select Mass Storage
    9. Done with that now plug in your phone. I am assuming you have already set up your computer with the drivers and have hooked your phone up at least 1.
    10. Now select all of the files you want to transfer to the phone. Right click and choose “Send To” and you should have a removable disk there send them there. Or just drag and drop them onto your phone in windows explorer. Although it does not matter which directory you put the files in on the phone it is easier to have it organized so put it in the Music folder. Now it will be on the flash card in your phone. You can disconnect your phone now.
    11. Last step on your phone select your ringers as such
    A. Hit Menu
    B. Select Fun & Apps
    C. Select File Manager
    D. Select Memory Card
    E. Select the folder your music is in
    F. Highlight the file you want as a ringer
    G. Hit Options
    H. Select Set As
    I. And select what you want.

    12. That’s it you are finished. Enjoy you new ring tones.

Sorry about the length of this I just wanted everyone to be able to do it. Even noobs.
