I was paying by VZW bill yesterday and I noticed this phone is now available in black. I like the idea of the way the flip goes, but I was wondering if anyone here has had a chance to see one in person or knew anything good or bad about the phone. My NE2 is approaching and I am just starting to get tired of my A950.

I have the phone- I actually got it a few days before it officially came out. :)
To be honest with you, I am back on my LG chocolate. I liked the idea of the two-way flips on the Samsung, but the buttons were just too small (I am a heavy texter) and I felt like the hinge was going loose after just a few weeks of using it. If you give me more specific questions you have about the phone I would be more than happy to answer them- I personally would not pay to get the phone, but that is just my personal opinion. ;)

Funny that you said that, because a friend just got one and my wife made the same comment that the keys were to small.

I was intrigued by the QWERTY keypad, it makes txting so much easier. Things I need in a phone is good reception and long battery life (I have a tendency to forget to charge my phone for days at a time). I don't care about an MP3 player since I have an iPOD, but I do like having a memory card to give me another way to get pics on my computer from my phone. Something I don't like about the T9 on my current Samsung is that I can't add words to the dictionary, so I find it annoying to have to change between input types. Also, I am looking for something a little thinner and the VZW GUI doesn't bother me.
As far as keypads go, I haven't had a problem with a Treo or Q keypad, are the buttons smaller that that or just more compressed together?
The only phone I have worked with that I thought the keypad was too small was the Kyocera SE44 slider, and that was because the buttons were flat to allow the phone to slide.

    Hope this helps

Maybe the LG enV would be a good choice. I have been using it for 3 weeks now. The battery life and reception on this phone has proved to be awesome so far. The outer keys are small, but not bad, the inner keys that you use for typing on are just the right size. Most people are concerned by the size of the enV, I was too until I used it for awhile. Now the size seems to be just right. If they did try to make it any smaller, the keypad would have to be smaller as well, like the U740's.

Like Mobile Princess said, you may want to consider the LG Env. I don't own one myself but I have played around with that device on numerous occasions and I really like it. Go to the Verizon store when you have a little bit of time and try both phones- send a few text messages from both phones to a friend or family member, even to yourself, just to get a feel for the keypad. AT first, I thought the idea of the U740 was awesome, but I also text a lot and it has proven to be more of a pain for me than an advantage. Everyone is different though, so my best advice would be to go check out both phones at the Verizon store and make your decision then. Hope this helps.
