    Samsung S105 & T-Mobile Internet Manager

I just got my S105 yesterday, and am happy with it so far (still checking out all the features.) I was already a T-Mobile customer with a Motorola P280 phone, which I successfully used as an IR GPRS modem with T-Mobile's Internet Manager software. My question is: Has anyone gotten the S105 to work as a GPRS modem with the Internet Manager software via the IR port?

I'm running Win2K Pro, service pack 3 on my laptop. When activate the IR port on the phone, my laptop sees it initally as a "Samsung S105" when the hardware is detected, but when it finishes installing the hardware the phone becomes "Standard Modem on IR Port." When I run the Internet Manager software and detect the device, it doesn't see it. If I try to use the phone as a "Standard Modem" via the IR port and the regular Win2K dialer, it works.

Do I need additional drivers for the S105 to be recognized as a GPRS modem?[IMG]

I too have the same issue. I think Tmobile-Internet manager do not have code to recognize the phone. I do not think it is a driver but Tmobile Internet application need to be updated with code to recognize the S105 phone

Use EasyGPRS 2.0.4. Then run the GPRS Wizard that it installed. It works for me and I have Win2K Pro w/SP3. I haven't tried T-Mobile's internet connection manager. The GPRS Wizard was easy to use. Give it a Connection Name then connect. No other info is required. You have to select the "Standard Modem on IR" when prompted though.

Great it worked for me, (Thank you JTech) Here are the settings that I have in my Easy GPRS Wizard, if anyone is interested.

    Country : United States
    Network Provider : [Others]
    APN Name :
    Connect Name:
    Phone Number *99#
    UserName : abc
    Password : xyz
    Remember Password : checked

Once connected I can access internet through the my Notebook.

I am connecting to T-Mobile and Do I have to pay money for the connection ? Is it out of my minutes ?

    Thank you,

I don't know how they bill it. I will ask T-Mobile later.

Where do you get this 'T-Mobile's Internet Manager software'? Lol, I should have searched first, but I just asked this question as a new thread. Thanks.

The software is actually written by Starfish, and can be downloaded here:

    http://www.starfish.com/private/istreamhelp/istreamhelp.html

The service was called "iStream" by Voicestream, but is now just called T-Mobile Internet.

I have now installed EasyGPRS 2.0.4 on both of my laptops (WinXP & Win2K SP3.) It works great on both in the sense that I can upload/download phone numbers, images, ringtones, etc through the IR port. However, I cannot get my S105 to work as a GPRS modem with EasyGPRS via the IR port. I'm using samath's settings above. When I try to conenct, it looks like everything is going to work, but right before the connection is completed, I get this error: "The PPP link control protocol was terminated."

This happens on both laptops....no other errors are given. Do I have some settings wrong? Is there something I should check? I'm sooooo close to getting this thing to work!

    Thanks!

I'd love to know how you installed EasyGPRS and got it to connect with your phone.

I have a Dell 8200 running XP Pro and have had zero luck getting the easy gprs software to connect with my phone. WinXP sees my phone just phone, even knows that it's a Samsung SGH-S105, however EasyGPRS is always in "offline" mode. I have it trying to connect on infrared. I tried using the com port I specified in the bios, but that did not seem to do the trick, either...

    So frustrating.
