I have to say that after looking at a lot of online info and videos on the new GS5 I am totally impressed with it so far. I think this time around I am going to have a very tough time deciding between the iPhone 6 in the Fall and the GS5. I have a lot of money invested in Apple right now so I'm very hesitant to move to another platform just yet. However, if Apple doesn't come out with a larger screen as the rumors are indicating they will, then my decision to switch platforms will be much easier, though.

Funny, I was looking at it and was totally unimpressed with what they added compared to S4 :)

Yeah, I would imagine a lot of other S4 owners probably feel the same way. Funny thing, Samsung always used to poke fun at how iPhone looked the same from one year to the next with not many changes and now the Galaxy S line is following the same path. Not saying that they needed to change anything as the S4 had a lot of nice features to begin with, but it is interesting how both Apple and Samsung seem to be so much alike even though they are on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of their OS. Neither one makes drastic changes to the design , or add too many new features and specs from the previous year. I think as far as upgrades go, many 4S users will decide to sit this one out, while those S2 and S3 users will probably go for the new S5. No different than iPhone 5 users who decided not to upgrade to the 5S as there may not have been a compelling reason feature or spec wise to do so.

I read an analyst comment on this. it seems that Samsung's strategy of adding a sort of new features at the S4 to see what stuck was a failure (like the hovering hand thing). So now they are concentrating on a few things (like Apple) and touting those. More incremental. Also Google raise some noise that Samsung's layers was moving too far away from the Google brand and wanted that stopped.

I'm not even a real S4 owner, so I was mainly looking at hardware changes. The changes from S3 to S4 seemed a lot more plentiful than S4 to S5.

BGR kind of touched on this subject in this article that I was reading this morning. http://bgr.com/2014/02/26/galaxy-s5-touchwiz-bloatware/

Pretty much the same thing that Apple did, going from the iPhone 3GS to the 4, as well as the 4S to the 5.

One other thing that a lot of online reviewers are saying is new on the S5 is the heart rate sensor. However this isn't new, because I've had this on my iPhone for awhile now via an app called Instant Heart Rate (see my demo pic below). This works the same way as it does on the S5.

Yes, I've been told that with Apple the +1 is the major improvement and the "S" is fine-tuning, which I can intuitively understand (major version, minor version). Samsung increases the "major" number every year.

Recently bought the Note 3 and I don't really see any reason to go for an S5. But I do like that Touchwiz may be toned down. I took a similar stance last year with the Note 2 and the S4, despite the S4 being specwise.

Fortunately (or unfortunately) I've never used TouchWiz so my interest is purely spec-wise, and in that regard I don't see S5 as being a significant improvement over S4. If Sony's Z line had removable batteries I'd be a lot more interested in those phones than in Sammies...

I just placed an order for the Note 3. I decided that the Note 3 is the better device choice for me after comparing the specs to the new S5.

the samsung galaxy s5 bring only a littles changes, like a little more bigger screen or more powerful cpu, that's all, I think if you find a good galaxy note 3 on promotion it would be more interesting than the galaxy s5

Seems to me like people are always changing their minds once the phone hits the stores. I would like to see the percentage of people who said no in this poll who actually do purchase the S5 after it's released. Ya know what I'm say'n?
