Hi everyone, Ive been looking all over for this phone. Im in need of a new Phone and i was wondering if you guys know any sites that sells this phone for an afforable price without a Plan. I just need a new phone since im so done wiht my razor. Afforable price to me is around 300-350...maybe its too much to ask..but if u guys know a good deal..feel free to add comments below..thanx for your time! bye!
To get it at full retail from Cingular it's $449.99, I haven't seen it on any of the online sellers of unlocked phones. You might try eBay but I doubt you'll be able to find such a new, "hot" device near Christmas for $300-$350 without a contract and service plan.
Yeah, I would also suggest waiting until after christmas to see what prices drop down to, at least if you're deadly sure about wanting it unsubsidized.
I think this one is due for a price drop soon. It seems that not many are grabbing it. The stores by me got a nice supply and are still heavy on stock with it. Once Cingular passes the holiday we should see a price drop like you said. It is a nice unit but is missing the true PDA functions for a power user like the editing word and excell documents and from what I was told is that it has no voice dialing (can't confirm as i have not tried to see if it is true or not).
I'm not sure, but isn't it a Windows Mobile device? If it is then you have to install Microsoft Voice Command for voice activation. -Jay
It's a WM5 based Smartphone, yeah MS Voice Command is available for it. I think the reason for the low sales is the High Price and the fact that not a lot of area's have w-cdma yet. We shall see though.
I agree, but from what i see when others like the 8525 has it included one does not want to go and buy the software. I saw two petential buyrs walk away from it. As to teh 3G availability I agree may be that has some thing to do with the low sales. But the store that I also talk to happens to be in a #g area and still so far they only sold 2 as compred to the 8525 whcih they keep on having to re-order and they can't keep enough stock on it. I do like the unit but I also think Samsung could have included other sfotware in it as well as have WIFi and it ehy ever do, that would be one of the best to buy.
I agree but keep in mind that the Blackjack is priced $150 less than the 8525 and that is due to the software limitations and the lack of WiFi. I have had the Blackjack since 11/16/06 and spent around $25 for various 3rd. party software and for me it is perfect now. What I like best is its superb reception and call clarity, that is sometimes a compromise on PDA/Smartphones. If I were to speculate on the low sales I would blame Cingular for insisting it is a PDAPhone, (when clearly it is not, it is an excellent Smartphone) and forcing customers into the PDA connect plan which is $20/month more than the Smartphone connect or the Media Max plan. Ofcourse this is just my opinion and also my pet peeve. I do like the device very much and one of this days I will write a review on it..... PS: I was pleasantly surprised to get an unlock code from Cingular 3 days.
Don't mistake me I like it too. And you are right, teh one thing that stopped me from getting it is the plan cost. Right now I have the BB8700c and the cost on that is $29.99. The store manager is trying to get me one to test, he just got his and he might lend it to me for a few days. One thing I like about it is the screen. Oh yes, have you tried telenave on it? It displays very nicely on it (costly though at $10 per month plus the GPS puck from Cingular at $99) and for sure one would need the unlimited data plan on it.
Please post your opinion after you try one out. I have been trying to have a combination device for about 2 years and have been through 3 of them. With the Blackjack I finally suceeded in fact I just sold my IPAQ and only use the BJ. Yes, the screen is amazingly sharp and clear. I was a little worried about that coming from the 6131 which has an amazing screen of 16M colors. I have not tried any GPS type software on it, but thanks I will keep that in mind... Hey, maybe this can be the official Blackjack thread and then I won't have to write a separate review. Jay, I think the IPAQ is the only device that Cingular offers that has integrated GPS.
make that 2 deivces, the new BB 8100 Pearl also has an integrated GPS map in it (no voice though but very practical, I use it on my BB8700c along with telenave and wayfinder). I also hear that the upcomming new BB8800 will have maps ,a gps reciever and wifi included but no 3G.
If you look in the Cingular Forum I posted a breakdown of the Data Plans, I have a 8125 and I'm on medianet without a problem... Only thing I sacrificed was VPN and Cingular Xpressmail, same does not hold true for a Blackberry but devices like the Blackjack certain fall under this.
I saw that and it is an excelent post. I can tell you one example, a family member with the Nokia E62 got caught and he got charged and was forced to go to the PDA plan.
That's fairly abnormal, because when I called Customer Service to downgrade I specifically told the rep that I had a PDA, but, that I did not require the isp. APN nor VPN or Xpressmail. She gladly downgraded me, and like I said I told her I had the 8125 stressing that I was not changing phones just wishing to downgrade plans.
I will have to take this one on my slef and fight it out for him. We all know that some Cingular first line reps only know what is in front of them and they don't agree to look at other things or even investigate.
unfortunatly this is the truth with some of the reps. And we have seen that with the ones that go on their forums page & give bad information as well.
