I am trying to decide on a smart phone. I am considering the Blackberry 8700G the Palm Treo 650 and Maybe the Samsung Blackjack Unlocked version. I would like to hear from anyone on Suncom using the blackjack and what their experience has been. I like the features of the Treo Palm OS, Camera, Memory Card etc, but I am told by alot of people it locks up. A friend has the BB and likes it but says it locks up rarely. Any advice? Thanks
Joefalco; The Samsung Blackjack works best on a 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) network (Only Cingular has one) so I doubt you would see the maximum performance from the Suncom network (they don't have a 3G network). However it will fall back to a GSM/EDGE network like Suncom's. Overall it's a pretty good device but unless Suncom supports Good Link or Windows Mobile then it'll only be a phone. Good luck.:browani:
Hillbilly, Thanks for the response. I don't know what Good Link is, but I do know that Suncom does sell 1 Windows Mobile Phone the J-Jam. Does this increase my chances of the Blackjack working well. The K-Jam is also nice but way to expensive for me.
joefalco; Good Link is a program that works kind of like the Blackberry. Also if Suncom supports Windows mobile 5.0 it will help but if you want to see how it can really work try it on Cingular's 3G network. It'll blow you away!
It is not advisable that you try and use a Blackjack on SunCom. The main advantage of a Blackjack would be its 3G capabilities. Blackjacks also have outstanding voice quality. But SunCom is light years behind ALL other wireless providers. Using a Blackjack on SunCom would be like putting a 4 cylinder engine in a Ferrari. Sure a Blackjack on SunCom would marginally work, but you'd defeat the true purpose of buying a 3G smartphone. I have been a SunCom subscriber for 2 years and recently switched to Alltel. I can tell you with great certainty that you are really missing out on better service by staying with SunCom. If you want a Blackjack, go to Cingular.
