Okay, I have it all connected via USB and am able to transfer and play audio files through the media player. Is there any way to use these or transfer files from the PC to use as ringers?
i have tried few days ago, and i really wanna know if theres a way to use my mp3 as ringtones, i have found a program that converts the songs into a ringtone file-type is there any third party program to trick the phone?:browani:
After my rat boyfriend gave me a 426 and then walked out with a certain from my office I decided to spend more time with my "Sammy"! I went through more hell trying to figure out a few things I wanted to do with my phone...like have some brave new ringtones instead of the little jingles that came on the phone... When I went to get a cable it was like 69 bucks and that was like for some standard usb cable? These service providers are really not afraid to rip your handbag off your hip and rifle throught it!! There are plenty of free wap sites where you can upload stuff and then send it to your phone...myself...I already had a website so just made a wapsite (well...I am not that brilliant so it took we like 3 months to figure it out!) and then made my own ringtones and then just suck em down into my "sammy!" I convert my mp3 tones into .mmf format with a free Yamaha converter...make sure the mmf file is smaller than 30kb or you will get an error message...after I have the .mmf file I just send it to my wap site and then surf on over to the site on my phone and download it and save it into my funbox. I have never tried the direct route so can't help with that... If you have a wap phone you can download my free original ringtones if you want...point your sammy to wap.giantweed.com and go down to the free moantones-ringtones section and you can have some of the .mmf files I created... Take your wap phone to >>> wap.giantweed.com It's reall worth it to make your own ringtones..it doesn't make sense with the prices these big companies want to charge us...I mean...I just got my last mobile bill and believe it or not but I spoke for a total of only 18 minutes last month and paid $48...That's more than Phone Sex!!
there is no any way to transfer the ring tones right from my computer instead downloading them from internet??
im looking for an easier way to do ringtones too. so far i was able to get some by converting mp3 files to .3g2 movie files (the format that the camera makes when it records a video) and then rename the file in the same nominclature as the saved video files you take on the phone, bascially copy the file name from one and change the number on the end. upload it to the phone with a usb cable (i got mine for free with the phone) then use the video ringtone option.
I bought this program. It' s like 20 bucks. You make the ringtone. And it's sends it to your phone via text message. Works great. http://www.xingtone.com/affiliate/?id=188
I used the program wavepad and it worked great. The only problem i'm having is the volume of the songs are a little low and yes the volume on my phone is turned up all the way. Is there a setting on wavepad that wil allow me to turn up the volume. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin
i took your advice and bought the program. It sends me the text when im done, but it takes me to a page that cannot be displayed. Any tips u know about? I have the samsung sph a900 from bell.
This sounds very interesting.....Can u please tell me what program you used to convert your mp3 files to 3g2?
For that option 2..How long does it take for that text to come in..I put in my number and uploaded the file and it said a text message was sent ive ive got nothing yet
And getting back to the original question, I've followed option 2 up to a point, got WavePad, cropped the .mp3, converted it to .m4a... I've got the USB cable and can see my A900 as a removable drive, now how do I get it to use this file as a ringtone? I can play it with the built in media player, but I can do that with a standard .mp3 file. With Sprint charging three bucks per ringtone, and that for a 90 day license, I refuse to pay that exhorbitant a price, but I'd like to break away from the boring crap they include on the phone.
If you put the files in the DCIM and then 100ssmed folder inside that, you can access them from the assign option under settings. But I don't think you can use m4a files for this option. They must be 3g2 files to be assigned. But i even made a movie out of my ringtone and converted it to this filetype, but when i put it in the folder and try to assign it, it appears as a red x and will not function. I have gotten only this far, so any ideas anyone?
lilpimp9556's suggestion works great. I think the trick is to make sure the filename conforms to the rest of the files (e.g. SSPX0100.3g2) or the phone will not play the the file.
I've been trying to add ringers to my phone for a while now since I have the internet disabled on it. I didn't read much above so I can't help anybody with that but I did find a way to do it. First I recorded a 30 second "video mail" on my Samsung A900 of anything. After finding what song I wanted to use from itunes, I went to 3G2 Converter Guide: How to convert movie to 3G2/3GP/3GPP video I downloaded the program that they told me to use to convert my song to ".3g2" . After that I simply changed the file name to the file name from the video I recorded and replace the file in the "DCIM" which is the folder when you plug in your phone to look at the pictures on your computer. Some problems I encountered: -Once I replaced the video, it was too big to assigned as a ringer. The max size is 512kb. The fix: I used quicktime pro to cut the song to 30seconds and saved it. I used that new version of the file in the program I downloaded earlier and then the file was small enough. You can reply to this if you need help unlocking quicktime pro since it's pretty easy. - The video has a red "X" when I review pictures. It just has no video but I could still play it and it would have a white back round. I saw an earlier post that said it would come up as a red X. Maybe they just didn't try playing it? I know all of this might be confusing and I'm sorry for that but I can help you if you ask questions so feel free. I hope this helps some people.
Have No Fear Barmatt is here!!! Alright for all of those who are like me and do not want to pay for ringtones and want to create your own for your Sprint Samsung A900...I have figured it out. Here's the secret: 1. Download ImToo 3gp Converter 2. Install software obviously 3. Add the MP3s (songs) you want for ringers 4. Changed the conversion setting at the bottom so your file has a (.3g2) extension. 5. Plug your phone in and go through the steps to connect to your pc 6. Open the DCIM folder where your pictures and videos are stored 7. Add the converted songs. 8. Here's the trick you need to changed all your song names to your phone photo names. Like mine was (SSPX0098) so I just kept counting upward from whatever the highest numbered file was...I hope you guys get that. 9. Select the song you want and play it make sure it works...then asign to who ever you want the ringers to be for. *You are going to be using the video ringtones in order for this work* **Downfall your songs aren't labeled at all** ***Lastly I'm starting a webpage here in Wisconsin for the bars so if this works for you and you want to show gratitude please visit Bar-MattI could really use the hit counts***
Okay, so I put ringtones on my phone an easier way.. I just go onto youtube and record the music video that I want, that way when your phone rings, it plays the song + the music video on the screen. But I can't figure out how to use them as ringtones for my text messaging. Any advice?
why would you want your texts to play video? don't you think that would get really annoying after a lot of texts. i'm not sure how to set those videos for text messages though. good luck figuring it out
