ok nvm i figured that out lol, but it still says that it is invalid content type! i thought u customized the site to work with the wireless web?
I did take a look at it, but it was way to time consuming for real midi songs, so I downloaded a program called Arbor Ryhmes. Search for it on yahoo or google. It lets you delete large sections, although the program is a little "flaky" It works on my phone, did you goto the correct site, where it lists the files? I have three files in the directory now. Unfortunatly, from what jqs has said, it seems that only bell mobility users can use this feature. I think your probably with sprint since your in america, so this might not work for you
Ladies and Gentlemen! If you point your wireless A460 to the following site, you will see a full WML site for FREE downloads of MIDI files for your phone! I believe this to be the first of it's kind? the site can only be connected by a WAP browser and has been specifically setup for the use of MIME type downloads of midi on your A460. the site is http://footose.ods.org There is a realitivly easy to use interface for the site, although I'm still learning WML it should be pretty straight forward. I don't have many MIDI's up but I *RECOMMEND* downloading the star wars theme as it turned out really awesome! I still have to find a good midi file editor so if anyone wants to help out in this way let me know.
http://footose.ods.org if you connect w/ your phone to my site you will see something like this.. mid1.jpg mid2.jpg mid3.jpg All the downloads are free, and soon I will have tons more once I figure out how to work the damn Midi editor! The transformers one is kewl too, but starwars is the way to go! I edited it perfectly for the phone.
Hey footose, can you try setting the same up with the a310 headers? Those of us with verizon MAY be able to download those midis. pleeeeease
Okay, I've almost finished the website... Soon I'll need help testing it... Essentially the website will allow you to log data information via your cell phone's browser. Then it will spit out a code that you can enter with your 'regular' computer browser (IE: desktop) and it will show you what data it got from your prior visit. Everything will be stored in a database and thus, you only need to come by once to determine your settings. (Unless you loose functionality and want to check your current profile with an older one...) The site will allow anyone to look up the profiles associted with a particular phone and WAP provider (cell carrier). Don't worry, there isn't any sensitive data that is saved or even viewable... When we come up with solutions for downloading ringtones, graphics etc... We'll match up the stored profile with out database of what works. Here's what I envision a typical session to be: Browser by with your Cell Phone's browser Get ID code Browser the website with your PC's browser and enter your lookup code Site will give you your information plus any info regarding downloading If a specific downloading 'fix' is detected the site will give a sample to test with. If the sample works the results are logged for the benefit of others. So what do people think?
Sounds like a plan to me... At the very least, it will make a nice data base of otherwise unknown information about the different phones out there...
I will be more than happy to setup the headers for a310 and a500 users once JQS hsa setup everything on his end =) The site has proven pretty popular so far, about 15 different people have downloaded the few songs that are on there! If it wasn't for my exams this week, I would put more songs up! Look for more on Saturday and Sunday, and after that I will constantly update it, hopefully everyone will beable to download from it!
Right now, it has... Star Wars - Empire Theme Foo Figheters - Everlong Simpsons - Itchy and Scratchy Theme Seinfeld - Theme Transformers - Theme Tetris_B - Video Game Theme hehe.. these are all just tests..but i foudn a WICKED combination to be the Empire theme for your ring (as it is really loud) and the itchy and scratchy song for your "message waiting" one..it's awesome!
Old guy not too bright here. Just got the A460 (jury still out on my opinion, too soon to vote). Anyway, is there any way to turn off the stupid jingle it plays when turing it on/off. Pretty embarrasing in meetings or dentist office. Plus, off topic, is there a way to change the display to something other than the lame ones that came with it. Many thanks Carter
From what I've heard, if you have the phone in vibrate mode it won't do the jingles... I've not yet found anything else about it tho... (However, I'm only working from a web perspective which doesn't allow for configuration of the phone...) That all depends on who your carrier is. If it is Bell Mobility (Canada) I can tell you immediately how to do it... Otherwise we'll have to wait and see...
Thanks for the fast info jqs, I'm using SprintPCS here in the San Francisco bay area, California. I do have the phone in vibrate/ring mode and it still plays the jingle. I'll try putting it in vibrate only and see. *update* You are correct sir. In vibrate only mode, the jingle does not play. Thanks much. Carter
I'm not sure about the 460 without looking at one, but I know on my A310 there is a menu option on the "sounds" menu called "Power On/Off" which has settings of "On" or "Off". This controls the sounds during power-up or power-down. On the A310, you can just switch the option to "Off" and it won't do that any more. As I said, I don't know about the A460. My best friend has one though, and I'm doing lunch with him today, so I'll find out for you...
Well, I hit Drev's server and the list of types for the T720 using Verizon's gateway is posted in an active thread over on the other forum. Unfortunately, download/* is not listed. It could be that we discovered the browser is a bit old. If only we can flash it w/ a newer version. I have asked him if I could hit his server w/ another gateway, but it doesn't look very promising.
I don't have it anymore, but I've notified him that I'd try it again w/ the new gateway. Maybe someone can come up with a list of good WAP gateways to use and hit them with different ones. So, perhaps, we can develop a chart that breaks it down according to model phone, browser version, and gateway used. A real research project!!
if anyone can tell me how to log MIME types in IIS, i'd be more than happy to do it on my server since it is already setup.
Heh, that's exactly the research my website wil be able to do after the weekend... I'll keep you posted...
Just to repeat my newbie question ... Is SprintPCS Wireless Web (with A460) REQUIRED to access these sites (for example, footose's site)? Are there any alternatives to SprintPCS Wireless Web that might possibly be free of charge (different gateway, etc.) ? I only ask this because I am already paying Sprint for the minutes I would use! Thanks in advance!
Ok, well, I checked out my friends A460 over lunch and it doesn't have the "Power On/Off" menu item under the sounds menu like the A310, so I guess you guys are out of luck other than the "vibrate" thing. Lateott, to answer your question, there are free gateways to use, but as we're discovering (and discussing in this thread) different gateways allow different capabilities, so going through a non-Sprint gateway may reduce the things you're able to do with your wireless web on your phone... If you're interested anyway, take a look at www.waptunnel.com on your PC and connect your phone to the server they list there...
I'm new to this and I just got my A460, please someone let me know how and if this info can be used for Sprint PCS in the US. I'm sure plenty of people would like to know that since Sprint's Ringers and More stinks to high hell.
These ringers can not be downloaded on the Sprint service a460 phones in the United States... I can access the footose's site and all but it is invalid content when i download it, maybe u guys will work on that, but u guys are going a good thing for the good people who just want some ringers! Good job guys. Keep up the good work.
Haven't figured that out yet, but maybe JQS will get one of you sprint guys to go by his site and see what MIME type your phone is using? otherwise I think the port might be blocked or something w/ Sprint Sorry guys, looks like this is Canada Only so far!
So....In other words Bell Mobility does not have any type of screen saver or ringer download program setup? I take it that with each service they have their own type of content type setup to use. Hmmm... I have the ringers and more option through Sprint, but wanted to make my own unique ringers and savers. Is there anything special I have to do to figure out how to make my own songs to DL? Does Sprint have extra measures setup to prevent this? Any help would be appreciated! -Just trying to learn new tricks-
Unfortuantly, we haven't had expereince with US users yet. Right now as it stands you can't download from my site But i think JQS is working on it
