I don't know anybody still on Nextel, Almost everyone I know is on AT&T, with a couple on Verizon & TMO. Pretty bad considering Nextel's HQ is just a few miles from my house.
Most folks who had Nextel moved on to mainly AT&T and Alltel in these parts... All the iDen users around here are Boost Users for the most part.
Funny but true...:lmao: Look at it this way Matt, this thread of yours has already increased the Nextel sub-forum's posting exponentially...
Aaaah, I can remember a very popular thread about Nextel... http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/the-roaming-zone/12523-rant-reasons-i-hate-nextel.html
Larry's post: "A friend of mine recently tried Nextel for about a week or two and found that the text messaging was very unreliable and as a result ended up switching to Sprint." Here we are... 3.5 years later... and the iDen network still has the same issues. *sigh* We should have a party when they finally decide to turn off that worthless piece of ____ network.
Yeah, I am fine with iDEN here in Phoenix. IN the past month my longest SMS delay was 2 messages that didn't arrive for 30 mins. No biggie IMO.
When I had Nextel several years ago, I never had any problems with them. Calls and Direct Connect worked well. I don't text message, so I never experienced this issue with them.
Just thought of something else...Maybe the integration of Sprint and Nextel really is happening, at least on this site anyway. Most things have been posted in the main Sprint forum, which kind of negates the need of the Nextel forum (at least until this thread anyway...). There really isn't a whole lot going on differently between the two and whatever does happen affects the two simultaneously as they ARE one company. It makes sense for Nextel and Sprint to be thought of as one in the same instead of separate entities, as has been the case for most of the post-merger. Now it's like the thinking is Nextel is to Sprint, like Mike is to Telus; One company, two parts.
We were going to merge the Nextel and Sprint forums a while ago, but then when there was rumors that Sprint may dump Nextel we decided to leave it alone. Its easy to merge the forums, but once merged it would be a very time consuming task to extricate the Nextel stuff back out.
It is kinda funny that 3 of us mods (Charlyee, Tony, and myself) have Nextel phones given that Nextel has fewer than 10mil users now. Obviously Nextel is still used by all the cool people.
