I only found 2 threads on this phone--talking about release/availability in USA and some features. Now that its available, for those who actually own(ed) the phone, what do you think of its: 1. voice quality -- speaker performance 2. reception -- clarity of call 3. volumn - sufficient to be heard in normal surroundings
This month's review of the phone in Laptop Magazine had this to say: "The S710a excels as a phone. Not only does it sound crisp and clear, but wireless Bluetooth headsets paired quickly and worked flawlessly."
We have seen and tried the phone. Excellent reception, just like the S700. The volume and voice quality are really good, just like the Sony Ericsson standard with the phones that have the K700 software (quickshare, and nice menus). However, the software on the phone is slow. Slower than the K700 given that they have the same software. Other than that, the screen is crisp, and the black just makes you want it. Too bad the inside keypad is not black. That was a turn-off.
S700i is triband for Europe. 900/1800/1900 = European Frequency/European Frequency/American Frequency s710a is Triband for the US. 850/1800/1900 = American Frequency/ European Frequency/American Frequency
an awesome phone, but did find the mic to be a little too sensitive from what i'm used to. Honestly, the one i've used I would have to say doesn't pass "basement test" if ya know what i mean. But then again, neither do several others. 'the basement test" being pretty tough around here, but not impossible to pass. lots of neat software available for free from sonyericsson, unlike some of their competitors that might charge for such extras .certainly not speaking of nokia there, we all know nokia is pretty liberal there too. http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=us&lc=en&ver=4000&template=ps1_1&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10179 Again honestly, I would probably actually buy one, given all it can do. p.s. - sorry bout the link, appears to be too long & word wraps, but u get the idea. look under S710a phone support.
Speaker option is great! I have great recetption. The ringtones are the loudest I've ever heard. The best part is the screen! I only wish you could go higher than 128MB with the memory.
It's a great phone. Reception is strong, but the phone does flip over to ATT more often (ie my v400 never did) in weak signal environments. It does tend to go to ATT PCS in my bedroom randomly, but both work fine. The screen is great and will spoil me for any other phone. Ringtones are loud and pretty crisp. The sound quality is really good, though I do get some word-clipping, but I dunno if it's just Cingular or the phone. Some days Cingular has weaker sound quality, most likely due to AMR-half rate during peak times...I dunno. Camera is top-notch as well. The spinning is really a gimmick...you can use the phone more as a candybar, which I like! There's a lot of phone for the price!
