Right now I have a Visorphone (Palm PDA & Phone Combo). My wife would like something similar but does not want to drop big money. I found the S105 for $99 after rebates. It has PIM features but everything has to be entered via the dialpad. Is there a way to export address book information and send it to the phone or will she have to enter everything manually into the phone?

    Nevermind:
I read another thread that says there is a program that does this and teh S105 is not supported.

can you directly do it from PDA to S105, or do you need a special thing? My dad has a palm, and I have a PocketPC, so it is important to me.

    Thanks

There are basically two methods available. One is through a data cable you can buy, the other through the built in IrDA port. To use the IrDA port, you can download EasyGPRS software v2.0.4 from the net. That software will allow you to edit the phones address book, calendar items, download ring-tones to the phone and images. The software will also let you review call logs and sent/received SMS messages. The software does not support synchronization between the phone and Outlook, but it does support synchronization to Windows Address Book (Outlook Express), so if you find a way to export contact information from Outlook to WAB, you should be in business.

There is an effort underway (see www.howardforums.com) to create an OPEN SOURCE project (most likely on SourceForge.Net) to create software that may ultimately be able to synchronize with Outlook, but the project is only in preliminary discussion at this point.

In order to Export your Outlook Calendar for Uploading to your S100 / 105 with EasyGPRS follow these steps:

    1. Goto "File" and choose "Import / Export"
    2. In the "Import / Export" dialog box, choose "Export to a file" and click "Next"
    3. Choose "Comma Separated Values (Windows)" and click "Next"
    4. Choose the "Contacts" folder and click "Next"
    5. In the "Save exported file as:" dialog box that appears, type the name (only. no extension) you'd like to save the file as (Note: Default location is My Documents) Click "Next"
    6. In the window that follows you can click on the "Map Custom Field" button to choose which fields you'd like to export. I just use Firstname, Lastname, and Number. Click Finish
    7. Load your "Windows Address Book" found under Start - Programs - Accessories
    8. Go to "File" and choose "Import - Other Address Book"
    9. Choose "Text File (Comma Separated Values) Last Option. Click Import
    10. Load the file that you created from Outlook from the location where you had saved it.
    11. Choose the Fields that you're interested in.
    12. Load EasyGPRS and go to "Tools - Import / Export Phonebook"

From this window (left screen) you'll be able to select where you want to Import the data to (SIM, Phone, Computer) and which entry from your Windows Address Book (right screen) you wish to import. For more details consult the help section of the software. I hope this helps. I know it works as I've done it before. Another thing to keep in mind is if you don't use Outlook, you can create an Excel file with different fields (columns) i.e. Firstname, Lastname, Number and save it as a .CVS file and then follow procedures 10 - 12.

I'm not sure how to do it through a pocketpc. This phone lack some key features like beaming. A friend of mine has the Ericsson T68i and he can select any particular phonebook entry and beams it to capable devices (something this phone can't do). When we tried to beam to mine it simply refused to accept the incoming data.

Shhs this was a lot to type. I hope you find it to be useful...
