If the Rumor 2 had EVDO it would have come out the winner. IMO. So if you throw aside the lack of EVDO the Rumor 2 could be a better overall phone.
Now that I have played with both phones, I would take the Rumor 2 over the Rant on the screen quality, battery life, and looks alone. Considering how half the channels are now gone from Sprint TV, the EVDO feature of the the Rant is pretty useless IMO. I guess it would send pictures a bit faster than the Rumor 2, but I don't send enough of those to really care about that either. I still think EVDO is only really necessary on PDA/smartphones and multimedia-focused type devices like the Instinct and the iPhone.
Agreed. Especially if you have to pay an extra $10 or $15 a month to use a EVDO device such as the Rant. That was the case for a few years but apparently now they no longer require a data plan change to go from a non-evdo device to one with evdo. But this is still unconfirmed.
I had the rant, however i traded it in for the rumor 2. I think the rant is an amazing phone, but if you ignore the fact it doesn't have evdo then it is a lot better. I can txt a lot faster on the keyboard, and it is a better designed phone. The only thing i do miss on my rant is the battery life was a lot better!
