Nice choice on plans, that's the one I'm on. I talked almost 1,000 mins last month and still rolled over about 100 mins. Between M2M and N&W I never use all of my plan minutes. I have over 1,000 rollover so I just don't care when I talk on the phone. I'm suprised no other carrier has come up with a similar plan to compete. Once Cingular's network integration is complete they're going to put a hurtin' on Verizon.
I agree. I have seen rollover minutes debated before, usually by Verizon folks which I used to be one of. In my wife's and my family account, we have over 5,000 roll over minutes. I use the phone whenever and for as long as I feel like it. Bottom line, I wasn't able to do that the two years I was with Verizon. I have made it a goal, this month, I will use some rollover minutes!!!
Man, I tried to use some rollover one month and still didn't quite do it - I rolled over like 30 minutes that month... LOL
I am not positive I did last month, will know soon. I talked a lot Thanksgiving day, but I forgot, that started a new rate period for me. It is my goal...I WILL use some rollover mins
We signed up Family 500 minutes in June. We usually roll over 250-300 minutes a month. Now we have over 1400 rollover minutes. We would have taken a smaller plan, but there weren't any. I see now that we can't even get something as small as the 500 minute plan either. I don't like wasting that many minutes every month, but we already have the least expensive plan. Maybe some month we'll have an emergnecy and we'll need the rollovers.
I know what you mean. We have the 850 plan because at the time, if you bought a plan 59.99 or higher the second line was only 9.99 instead of 19.99. So 850 mins (59.99 + 9.99) for two lines cost the same as like 500 for two lines (49.99 + 19.99)...something like that. Back then I traveled almost every week for work so I used the cell a lot, and we still rolled over 1 or 2 hundred a month. Now that I don't travel....we rollover about 2 or 3 hundred.
LOL. On the contrary my friend had 340 minutes of overage on her plan last month so she blitzed through her rollover because she's only been on Cingular a few months and hasn't saved up much rollover yet. I couldn't believe that when I saw her bill last night she talked about 2200 min last month. Puts my 1,000 minutes to shame... LOL
I need to find like some free 800 numbers to call...for weather, sports scores etc. Something to eat up some anytime minutes with
I know...just meaning a lot of those numbers are...IE 1-800-SPORTS or something like that. Just talked to my mom several states away for 30 mins. Eatting away at those anytime mins to get at the golden rollover mins. LOL
On my quest to get into my over 5,000 rollover minutes, I am down to 344 anytime minutes to be used by 12/24. More to follow
I used a few rollover minutes only one month in all the years I have been accumulating them. There is obviously no real need for my rollover minutes since I essentially always had plans with more minutes available than I ever use. I did have a 450 minute/month plan for a few years and just changed it to 550 minutes/month at no change in cost, etc. If I wanted to save $20 dollars a month or so I could go to a less expensive plan with less minutes. However, I like the fact that I never have to give the slightest thought to how many available minutes I have when I use the phone. This also allowed me to give a "family plan" phone to my elderly parents and not be concerned about their use. All this being said, it still frosted my *** when Cingular reduced my 13,000 minute accumulation by almost 9000 minutes a few months ago. Although these minutes had no practical value to me they were still paid for. I started with AT&T in August 1988 and never used any provider other than AT&T/Cingular. I intend to change providers instantly at the first reasonable oppurtunity that is to my advantage because of that incredibly stupid action.
If you are truely happy with the service and price, I wouldn't let the 9,000 rollover minute thing push you into a carrier changing decision. But, I understand the chapping your a**.
I currently have about 2600 rollover minutes. I used 200 last month, none in the 3 previous months before. Although I use my phone for business, I talk allot to my wife and son and they are MTM-free. I had a plan of 1500 anytime for 1 year, that allowed me to build up the rollover. Then I switched to 900 anytime and began to eat up the roll. At this point I will just continue to eat up the roll till it gets to about 400, then I will do what Bobo does. Let me just say this about rollover, Bobolito has it down to a science and so do I. It happens to be the most fantastic perk that a carrier can offer because it then becomes more of an account management issue, then a time management issue every month. For the rollover usage months, you account manage, when they slim down, you time manage.....We are actually in more control then the carrier!!
Isn't it funny that some of us are actually trying to go over our minutes when some others don't have that luxury for fear of paying overages? LOL!
I was on the phone with a vendor today and he said that he was so sorry that he was taking so long on the phone and offered to call me on a landline. I flat out told him I was on Cingular and I had over 1,200 rollover minutes to burn so don't worry about it.
I wouldn't know anything about that. I've never used more than half my minutes and I'm on the lowest plan possible.
I thought they changed it so if you lowered your plan, your rollover would be cut down so you didn't have more than 1 month's worth left?
I had been with Verizon for about year, usually ended up with 100 or so minutes each month that were unused. I went over one time in one month and they stuck it to me.....but what about all those months I didn't use what I paid for? Rollover just makes sense to me. I agree with Bobolito's earlier statement, rollover is one of the best features a provider can offer. Now....back to trying to eat up my minutes. "Hello...no, I don't mind being put on hold"
Verizon just did that to me this month. I have been with them for 3 years with barely 200 minutes/month used out of my 300 minutes/month plan. This month I went over by 10 mins and over and above charging me for it they sent me an E mail suggesting that I go onto a higher minute plan because I went over. Huh?, what once in 36 months?
More carriers need to do something like Sprint's Fair & Flexible. Instead of charging an arm and a leg for going over, they should just charge you for the next largest "tier" of minutes.
I can kinda see their point. If you need more than one month's worth of rollover then you need to be on a larger plan.
Yes, they say they did, but my plan has changed in all areas, but not my rollover total. I imagine that it will though as soon as they catch it!:loony:
