Wow! I hadn't been on here in a few days, and now this is a big shock. My condolences go out to his family and friends. I was wondering how we found out about this? I have thought in the past about the relationships we have on forums like this (especially this one not being huge and full of trolls like others) and how we only know each other on line. Now I do personally know a few people here and talk on the phone with them, but without that if something happened to one of us it would just be a matter of one day thinking "I wonder what happened to this person, they haven't been online in long time." Did his family know he spent time here? If they did I hope they see this thread.
Ryan brought it up. Dan was a friend of mine on MySpace, however I've been using Facebook for my social networking for the past year or so. If I was still active on MySpace I may have known sooner, if his family posted something on his page. We may be a small internet community here @ WA, but it is pretty tight. I know I am in regular telephone contact with several members, and if all of a sudden we didn't hear from someone in a while I would call them.

I hadn't heard from him in a while. Got in contact with family of his and found out that way. BTW, if interested here is a link to his obituary. There is also a guestbook that you can leave a comment in. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/oklahoman/obituary.aspx?n=dannie-kesler&pid=139643861
Wow - that is really too bad. My thoughts are with his family. Although I didn't "know" Dan, being from the same area I could visualize a lot of things and places that he would mention out here - his comments always made me smile. And he was great - told me how/where to host photos for posting the first time I tried it and kept getting the red X's. lol.
Dan will be missed. I loved the back & forth banter you could have with him. He was always good for updating gas prices. How many times did he get temporarily banned for his language? I'm sorry for his family's (and our site's) loss.
Oh I'm really sorry to hear that My thoughts and prayers to his family. We visited a few times about his pantech c300 prepaid gophone. He was very nice to tell me about it and show pics. ah...that is just so sad. I know passing away is part of life----but I truly wish it wasn't.
Wow - That's sad news. I had noticed he was just getting back to posting after being gone for a long while. RIP (Dan) Walkguru. Thanks for the many contributions to the site.
I was saying the same thing to Charlyee, I used to enjoy the friendly banter he and I use to share. He certainly will be missed.
This took me completely by surprise. He was just posting recently. RIP and condolences to his family. Very sad to hear this news.
Thanks for this. Charlyee had told me some time ago that Dan had passed away, but I hadn't read this thread or the obituary and comments on the other site until today. 65 isn't that old at all. Seems like he was well known and well liked in several online communities. He will live on here as the originator of the "What are you listening to right now" and "What did you last pay for gas?" threads and as the top poster on WA00. I don't think his record there will be broken for a while. SW
I'm just making my way back from a long absence, so sorry for being late, but RIP, WalkGuru. You definitely will be missed!!!
