It seems that when I get a ringtone sent to my phone, it comes as a pix message, and I can save the sound...but how can I set the sound as my ringtone, or anything else for that matter??

I'd appreciate any help with this

If you have saved the "sound" it's on your phone. All you should have to do is go to the ringtone settings and pick that sound and apply it as your ringtone.

The verizon userface was the same as my Lg7000. I sent myself several ringtones through pix messaging, and my husband's friend., just got a 5200. I set it up for him with settings and such...
But anyway it's menu... move over to the settings. pick sound settings, then for caller id..or whatever one you want..restricted,etc. and the list will open up. In my case the tones that I added were put to the bottom of the list...so I would just up arrow to go to the bottom first. Your ringtones should be there ..click on the one you want and apply it. Voila...ringtone of your choosing.

and as far as saving the sound...if you have done that... it's while it's playing in the message hit options and save sound...name the file and okay...

    Hope that helps. :)

Does anyone know what the maximum number of ringtones that the vx5200 can hold is? I can't seem to see more then six of my ringtones that I transferred using BitPim. And do you know is it a quantity limit or a size limit?

I can not answer your question but I have a related one. How do you delete one or more of the existing ringtones on the VX5200?

I purchased the MobileAction cable and software for only about $25. It loads ringtones but there is no obvious way to remove old ones or even the new ones I added. So far I only added 4 new ones for a total of 19 now.

    QCP question

I recorded a sound on my LG VX-8100 and it shows up under "my sounds" as a .QCP and I looked under my ringtones to see if I could select it as a ringtone and it is not there. Can anyone help me to make this into a ringtone or somehow be able to select it in this format from my sounds in my ringtone list? Thanks

A far as the maximum number of ringtones? is going to depend a lot on how much memory you have, because for each ringtone you have, the phone will put them ALL into memory when you turn off the phone, then turn on the phone. PLUS it depends on whatever else the phone is loading into memory.

Some phones will not work with a ringtone that has more than 20 characters for the name. That includes the extension.

Also, since you have VZW (verizon), you should not have them play for more than 30 seconds MAX, since that is when your phone will switch over to voicemail.

    Hope that this helps.
