Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find any answers.... I just got an Audiovox CDM8945 and I'm trying to create my own ringtones. When I send the file to my phone it only lets me download it to "my sounds" how can I, or can I even move it to my "call sounds" area? Is the only way I can get ringtones is from Verizon? Also anyway I can turn the screensaver off? Hope that makes sense. Thanks
I don't believe that there is any way to do this. Verizon has been pretty good at locking stuff down so that they have to use their pay services. For example, the annoying way that the crippled Bluetooth and then didn't tell anyone about that until there was a lawsuit... Unfortunately, I think that for now you will just have to purchase ringtones through GetItNow. There is no way that I know of to use the MIDI files that you load onto your phone as ringtones. Verizon has been one of the most successful in the industry in forcing their users to use their own pay services over do-it-yourself type customizations (wallpaper, ringtones, etc).
Got to the beginning of this thread and look for 'sticky: RAZR V3m'. Inside this thread there a 10/15 listed sites that you can goto to dl FREE ringtones, wallpaper, music, etc.. Some of the sites even allow for specific phones, ie your Audiovox CDM8945. Good hunting and downloading. Also there are postings there that talks about the various software you can get to help you connect your computer to the phone, makes changes to the phone, ul and dl from the phone, etc... The idea I am trying to get at is, get the software and use on your phone IF you need software. Most of it free, also.
well...sadly the 8945 won't allow sounds to be set as ringtones [like was said before]. but if you REALLY REALLY want a somewhat "customized" ringtone w/o paying for anything, and you are so desperate for one because either you can't find the song in one of those programs where you have to pay for a tone, or you just really don't want to pay for anything, then just record the song via FLIX and just set that as a ringerID. obviously it would only be 15 seconds long and the quality isn't as great as a downloaded one, but it is an alternative to a "customized" ringtone. plus you can record a video along with it so the ID would look pretty decent...
Ugh, this the worst cell phone ever. Please tell me there's a way out of this. I don't fancy wasting money buying one of the cell phone downloading programs, and then having to pay more money for the ringtone itself. And the selection is horrible, anyway.
wow, i can't believe how crappy this phone is. i just purchased a year subscrition to 3guppies.com for $10.99, so that I could download unlimited ringtones....and OF COURSE this stupid phone will not use any sounds i've sent to it as ringtones....what a waste of time and money.
oh yah and, no one answered the OPs question about turning the screensaver off....i was wondering that myself
