Thanks for the post vf. Most of the tech sites are raving about the S6 and the S6 Edge, so I guess we need to see what the actual user experience is after a couple of weeks Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk
yes, it was an interesting read, hitting on the overall success of the phone vs the mass popularity. it will be interesting to see.
It appears that Samsung has egg on its face. Launching the new S6, Samsung made fun of Apples's Bendgate on the 6 plus once again. But apparently independent test shows it bends at the same pressure as the iPhone 6+. Plus it's glass shatters whereas the iPhone does not. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1861901 Samsung's official response? " you're bending the Galaxy S6 wrong" After the fiasco, Samsung asks the testers to compare them differently, and " besides no users would put that much pressure on a phone anyways". Er, so they admit the original bendgate was a non event now? You can google the details of this story. The best comment I read? "Samsung copies the Apple 6 + down to every detail, including bendgate- but messed it up ". those curved glass edges enchannces the screen breakages, aside from the bending issue. I agree that the pressure numbers are too high to worry about for normal use on phones. But Samsung made the mistake of making an issue of it 6 months ago with Apples's launch and then stupidity brought it up again with their new S6. You would think they would have thought this through a bit, but no a cheap shot came back to bite them.
If manufacturers want a great, strong aluminum case, they should follow the lead that Nokia set with the N8. It had a solid unibody (one piece) aluminum case. Everything slide out from the top or the bottom of the aluminum case.
The iPhone 4,5 and 6 are all unibody aluminum . Phone bending is really a non existent issue, except with exceptional force at one point, near the volume control buttons where the unibody is the thinnest. most force is distributed over a larger area, and much lest total force than shown in this videos. No one really worries about it, if they have an ounce of pragmatism.
Actually, that makes sense. Now that people know they're gonna get a buttful of shards if they put an s6 in their back pocket, they will carry the phone properly Sent from my SM-T320 using Tapatalk
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge's wraparound screen transforms an already great phone into Samsung's best-looking handset. Ever. The bad That supercool design comes with a big price tag, and the screen doesn't deliver any real killer apps. Like the regular S6, the Edge doesn't support swappable batteries or expandable storage.
Hello hb.... Welcome. Yes, you've mentioned everything that all the review sites have noted. A bit hard to tell why you posted, but welcome anyway.
Sadly - almost no smartphone has a removable battery any more - easier to make it smaller with an integrated battery. Not having the expandable memory like most are going to might be a deal breaker for me. But with the most recent versions of android not supporting Apps to SD - the manufacturers try to use that as the reason. Personally - I love having expandable memory for music & pictures/video. Frustrating that to move to the 64 or 128G onboard memory is so much more expensive than a good micro SD card. Was going to look at new phones, thinking S6 is off the table.
