This is the kind of attitude that makes NIMBY's so unreasonable:

"The 300 feet [requirement] was put in place for a reason," he said. He noted he'd object even if proximity wasn't the issue, "because it really doesn't belong in a residential area."

What really disturbs me is this paragraph:

"We're hoping they [board members] just deny it," said Harvey, a Sprint cell phone user who said he isn't impressed by the prospect of improved coverage.

So, did I get this correctly? he's a Sprint user and he doesn't want improved coverage?

Yeah I was going to mention that one as well. Hard to believe someone would take that attitude.

Maybe Sprint will have to take Legal action
on this one, since No Location is possible
    on this town.

Surely Sprint customers don't expect to NOT be able to use their cell phones at home or anywhere else in the neighborhood. Maybe they're opposing the tower just for the fun of it. The NIMBYs don't have any better reasons not to let the wireless companies build towers.

Exactly, have ya ever looked at old photos of NYC vintage early 1900's??
With the telephone and electric lines strung every which way?? What a mess
    that was...

Think what we'd be up against if leaders back then refused to allow ma bell and electric companies to string those wires every which way...

I'll bet the NIMBY towns would be pretty upset if the utility companies had to feed their tax $$$ making subdivisions with extension cords and 1/2 " water mains...
Wireless is the exact same thing, nothing more than a utility... get used to the towers, and get over it for christ sake:)

Or maybe they wanna stick to their "56K if your lucky" dialup internet connections too, I dunno???

I am really getting tired of these people with there NIMBY attitudes on everything, unless it is something they want & don't care about any ordinance or rules.
Maybe a bunch of people here should get on these construction boards, then we would see progress around the country. :browani:
