I've had my Bluetooth HS700 (B version) for a few days now. The call clarity (receiving) is very good, transmission clarity is as good as my phone, when I'm stationary. In the car, between 20- 40 mph it is still clear; At 65 on the highway (in a mini SUV), my voice is clear, but one can hear the muted road noise. The HS700 is the first BT from Moto that has noice and echo cancellation. It fits the ear very well...doesn't flop around like the HS 500 can feel. Very small too. Fits into shirt pocket nicely. I placed my phone on my outside deck railing, and walked up to 20 feet away when I heard some crackling noises. I guess these things are really designed for nearby use. That is a free space test. I imagine walls and so on will reduce the range. Also, was able to couple with my PC for Voice over internet with GoogleTalk. Sounds very good. I would say as good as my wired headset. Also takes the USB power plug, so I can charge it from my PC's USB port. That is handy. One thing I like about BT: The RF output is only max of 1 milliwatt from the BT. My phone can put out 600mW to 1 W. So there is a lot less RF going into my head...if I were to worry about such things. Being not connected by a wire to my phone in the car, is improved safety for driving.
That's good to hear. I actually tried to order one today from Cingular with my giftcards and did not have much luck. I think I'm going to try walking into a corporate store and buying it. -Jay
Technically that is not true, other Moto headsets had noise and echo cancellation before this headset came out last year. This was the first to add a newer chipset for improved performance, but again, that was last year. My wife has used her HS700 for 10 months now and it continues to perform as well as the first day she used it. I'd agree that anything over 20 feet is pushing your connection. It can go as high as 30 feet through walls, but the clarity is quite poor.
I can't dispute what you say...but this is what the Moto web page states: Advanced Audio -- noise and echo have met their match. Introducing the first Motorola Bluetooth® headset with noise reduction. Hear and be heard anywhere. I was surprised to read it also. Maybe only the echo cancellation is improved. Again the specs from the web pages: Latest generation, BCO3, chipset with echo and noise cancellation software I did not find similar statements for the HS850 or HS500.
I must say, I am not one to use a BT headset much, but I love this thing. I got mine a few weeks ago. I only use it when walking through the airport on one of my many lay overs or taking a conference call while out somewhere (my car has OEM BT, so I don't use it in the car). My favorite feature is the ability to quickly connect so I don't look like the rest of the sheep walking around with it in my ear 24/7. Phone rings, I take it from my pocket, unfold the boom (which turns it on) and it is connected by the time I get it on my ear and answer the call.
I just bought one in a corporate store with the remainder of my Cingular giftcards from their referral program. I now have it charged up & paired so we'll see how it does today. -Jay
I bought one yesterday and although I only made a couple calls, it is 1000% then the H500 that I returned to Verizon. I love that I can tun it off by flipping the boom up.
It looks like you did. I can only find reference to bluetooth car kits with noise reduction specifically mentioned before the HS700. So maybe it was the first headset to use this.
So far I've found the boom a little awkard. Maybe because I'm used to the HS820, maybe because I have big ears, and maybe just because its different (Votes for all 3?) I find when extended it is hard for me to clip it around my ear because the boom hits my face in the attempt. Maybe after some use and the clip gets a little more broke in it will be easier. -jay
Perhaps, , but you can never absolutely trust what printed on the web pages. So far, I'm liking the unit, and it seems much better than the ones I've tried before.
I actually had one person who asked "I thought I called you on your cell... It doesn't sound like you're on a cell phone." (That was with the H700 paired w/ my Moto V551). -Jay
