I live in a remote area of Wyoming between Rock River and Wheatland. The closest cell tower is about 100 miles away and belongs to Union Cellular. My carrier has abandoned their tower in this area and I am unable to get good coverage by anyone else. To continue with my carrier they want to double my monthly service amount and I still will have limited coverage with them when I am home. Does anyone have any suggestions on 1) which company has good coverage in this area and; 2) is it legal for my current carrier to double my prices when they are at fault for not maintaining their own equipment?

Give me the EXACT town you are in..this way I can look up coverage for different carries for you and let you know which would be the best for you. You looking for prepaid or postpaid?:)

and to answer your question..yes your carrier can double your prices. Atleast I'm pretty sure that they can. They can set their own prices thats how they make money. :)

There are fair business practices in place, also there are terms in the contract.
