Two things though:

One: How come it says it doesn't have FCC auth yet? Does that mean mean there gonna be extra time for red tape?

Two: When I worked at Verizon, the Kyocerta 7135 came out 2-3 weeks after a colleague was trained on it. Does this mean it's gonna be 3 weeks b/c people are just being trained this week?

The v60p actually already has received FCC approval, so I don't know why moto's website says that.

As for the training timeline, that doesn't really indicate when it will be released, it just means they had time to train it. I was trained on EMS in March, and that still hasn't launched. Hopefully PTT will still launch sometime in July, but we'll see.

 

Any new news?

 

It's July 1st and still no v60p. Rumors....rumors.....rumors.

 

Well guys, I wouldn't expect to see it until atleast late august, based on the newest stuff I'm hearing from work. My personal prediction is still Christmas.

Ceno: As July 1st, came and went, I started thinking the same thing(s). I think Verizon will hold off on PTT until Christmas, and have this HUGE CHRISTMAS BASH on T.V, Like they ALWAYS do ABOUT EVERYTHING NEW. That's just about the perfect time to offer something very new, because, of, well, I mean, ITS CHRISTMAS! HAHAHH.

Of course everything following this sentence is completely provided by a Verizon CS rep who openly admitted he wasn't trained on PTT yet and sounded like he was tokin' on some crack, however, for those of us who just soak up all the info we can from multiple minimally believable sources......

I called CS and played dumb. I asked about the lawsuits, should i get the service if they're suing each other, the removal of the V60p from the moto website, etc.

He said PTT will now launch 7/20. The phones will be in the stores before then. They moved the launch so it didn't coincide with the MMS picture messaging launcched today with the VX6000. He said frankly it wil be a chore to work out all of the picture messaging bugs, much less PTT on top of it. They need a clear indicator of what is loading the network and how, and they are trying not to spread tech support too thin (made sense to me.)

As far as the V60p, it was removed from the moto website, and from nytelecom, due to the espionage by Nextel. Since the launch is delayed, all technical information is being removed from it's 'ready' position as he called it on many websites so it can't be ogled by competitors until the official launch.


Well... thats it. i don't know how reliable this guy's info is, but he made it sound good.... maybe i got accidentally connected to sales....... What if I make up a fake technical issue, then bring it up with tech support all on the sly

Doesn't it sound so good though. Actually, it was not new info, but different info. 7/20? MMS? I would get excited by all the seratonin has been used already like I just took 10 pills of ecstacy. (meaning that I've been down this road too many times) It's like a free hooker that keeps saying NO!

Anywayz, sounds promising. It's too bad that we speak to these people on the phone instead of in a store. At this point, if I'm given ANY information, I would go to that person's supervisor, or at least track down their source of information.

I guess I'll call my local bunny rabbits tomorrow, as well as the 'ol shixsh won won. I'm giving Horizon 100 hours from 1am EST on Thurs. to give me a solid answer.

BTW I received a response from the email I sent them re: my frustration with PTT release and CSR misinformation. They sent me a cyborish answer: "Unfortunately we can't tell you anything. We really don't know. The phones just asexually produce and reproduce themselves in the store on the morning they are going to be sold."

 

I talked to my boss tonight (I'm still out of work on disability) and asked him about PTT. My boss is awesome, I totally trust him, and he's usually very accurate in his information, but I want to make it clear right now that I do not necessarilly believe the following info is true, and I still say Christmas time.

According to him, PTT was scheduled for July 1, then pushed back to the late august time frame, and has now been pushed back forward and should launch around the 21st. He's also played with it, and says it's pretty impressive. I'm so mad I've been out of work all this time, I could've been sittin around with him playing with it.

Again, I want to make it clear I am NOT responsibly for the accuracy of this info, and still don't expect it to launch any time soon, but this is what was passed on to me. So if it doesn't launch on the 21st, don't whine at me.

And Mr. Dobrow, the phones don't asexually reproduce the morning they go on sale... they're genetically engineered by aliens and grown in test tubes the night before.

 

Ceno: Okay, okay, you were right, it wasn't going to launch the 1st. ! Well, all I can say is, I'm not waiting. Whenever it comes out, it comes out...I'm enjoying my v60i quite profusely I might add

I've been trying to replicate the process in my lab, but all I get are iDen phones...something isn't working properly...

 

You know what, my head hurts. Ceno, Matt, Cop, some others, you know who you are, have been really genuinely helpful. But now, between this forum and Howard's, everyone and their brother has an opinion on the V60p and Verizon PTT. Which is not to say that these people are necessarily wrong, they may be 100% correct for all I Know. I simply can't read anymore. It's driving me nuts. It will be here when it gets here.

And another thing, STOP WITH THE RING TONES ALREADY. Maybe we should create a ringtone forum?

Dude, complaining about ringtones is soooo last month.

I'm not sure you were around for this, but a month or so ago the senior members pretty much turned every ringtone thread into their own forums and complained about the number of ringtone threads relentlessly. Then the ringtone threads disappeared for a couple weeks and now they're back.

Apparently, resistance against ringtone threads is futile

Yello- if all you're getting is Iden phones, try using less ribonucleochlorides, and add a drop of Mountain Dew.

That was fun taking over the ringtone threads... it seemed to work for a while, but then more new members showed up, armed with more ring tone requests. I guess it's something we'll just have to keep doing.
