I made the oh so common cell phone blunder, I dropped the my cell phone into the toilet, whoops. I quickly took the battery out, but before I went to research what to do next, I dried it out for only a couple of minutes, only by shaking it. This clearly was a dumb move, and I believe I short circuited the phone. My question though is, is there anyway I can have it repaired enough to get my numbers printed out or anything like that? It tries to turn on, but it locks up before it fully reboots, I am letting it dry without the battery to see if MAYBE I got lucky and it will work, but if anybody could help me out, it would be very appreciated.

Well, your place to drop it is a new one to me. :O

I would take it my local provider's store and have them check it out or at least call them and see what they say. I have a feeling that if you cannot power it up, you maybe out of luck.

Good luck on this endeaver and please keep us informed.

Oh, I am not purposely poking fun at you. We have had people, 2 than I can remember reading about, wash theirs in their clothes and then dry them in the dryer.

    One went swimming with theirs.

My son dropped one of his in a column of concrete. He laid another one on a concrete road barrier and a guy on a bulldozer went over the barrier and phone. It is now a 'pancake' phone.

One dried their's in the microwave.

And one dried their's with a blow dryer.

That is all I can remember reading about.

Good luck on getting you #'s back.

If it is a nextel or GSM phone (cingular/tmobile) you should be able to retreive your numbers off of the sim card. If not, the best thing is to let it dry out as long as possible, don't try to turn it on for a few days, then cross your fingers and power it up. If the phone powers up the numbers should be able to be transfered, even if the screen is shot. BTW there are several products on the marked now that let you upload your phone book to a portable memory stick just in case something like this happens. I don't have any info on these products, but you can probably google them. Good luck

    That is amazing isn't it?

Some phones will 'keep-on-ticking' while others are only good for door stops after a water-bath. :dunno:

A few others said that theirs worked after theirs got soaked or went through the washer-dryer.

    But then others .... :(
