Sorry if not posted in the appropriate forum as this deals with multiple issues (tech, provider, phone).

My Motorola 815 recently took a dive (literally in the pool). The absolute most important factor for me is RECEPTION. I was very satisfied, as most of my calls are in a hospital on the 1st and basement floors. I had to choose a new phone as it is being phased out. I've tried 2 in the last week, the Treo 700W (thought PDA would be nice, but reception was horrible), and the Motorloa Razor V3m which I was told was the BEST for reception (it wasn't as good as the 815, by far).

I have a delemma. Verizon will let me replace the phone one last time and their last shipment of 815's are coming in tomorrow. My other option is to completely change service providers within the 15 day trial period. Co-Workers have not had reception issues with US Cellular (Davenport Iowa area).

My question is , if you could choose one phone based solely on reception (and must be bluetooth/voicedialing), which would you choose? Am I wedding myself to outdated technology with the 815? Why is it being phased out? Thanks.

The e815 is being phased out for the bombardment of RAZR-esque phones in our market.

I've had excellent success with the RAZR v3m. I'm surprised your experience was so much different.

The e815 is the last Verizon phone with the original manufacturer user interface. Grab it while you can.

Amp'd Mobile (a MVNO of Veriozn Wireless) also sells a variant of that phone called the e816 (Hollywood). Many Verizon Wireless users claim they've been able to successfully activate the e816 with Verizon's online ESN changer. Of course this model will have the Amp'd Logo and dedicated buttons for Amp'd live which you will have no access to should you choose this method.

You can also ditch Verizon during your trial period and go with Amp'd exclusively, but you risk losing the large free mobile to mobile community Verizon has already established along with their much more generous phone selection.

Amp'd Mobile uses Verizon's network so coverage/reception should be similar.

    Check them out for yourself:

Much thanks Dad. You should get paid for this service, but I'll take it anyway! Do you think phones with extendable antennae provide better reception? There are several out there.

Something like a Motorola V325, the MOto E815 or one of the Nokias will be best reception wise on the Verizon network.

If you really only care about reception as I do, try a Nokia. My little 2128i beats the pants off everything I've tried including the E815, V325, V3c & a VX4650. The last two, V3c & VX4650 are not bad, but the 2128i has never failed to hold a signal and provide loud, clear calls. It also has the loudest and clearest speakerphone I've ever used.
