Hi Everyone, Can anyone tell me how to get my home-made ringtones from my PC to my new Razr2 V9M? All the threads seem to talk only of the V3M... I have the newest phone and can't find any help any where on the web. Thanks in advance! I hope you have a great day today, and an even better one tomorrow! Angi
I think the ability to do that has been disabled by Verizon in the Razr2 operating system. Verizon does this to alot of it's handsets to "encourage" you to purchase ringtones and download music from them.
Never say never to an old woman... LOL! They may have disabled it, but I WILL find a way around it, as I did with my old E815. I'm sure if I keep plugging away, I'll find someone else that got around it. But thanks for your reply. Angi
Someone will probably figure out a way to flash the Alltel V9m software onto the Verizon V9m... that's usually what happens because Alltel does not disable the use of Bluetooth OBEX or MPT file transfers. It'll probably be a little bit, though, since the V9m came out not too long ago.
I'm pretty sure that it is available already. I remember a discussion about this topic awhile back. I'm sure a quick google search can provide the needed answers.
Simple task for ringtones. Here is a link that just about covers whatever you want to do with the VZW v9m. FYI all his info is relative to VZW phones. RAZR, V3C, V3M, E815 Motorola/LG Mobile Phone Help Pages by Mark Venture - V9M As for flashing the phone yep, all possible. You can either go with the Alltel flash or USCC. I have VZW and the day I bought got my replacement from VZW I flashed it to the leaked USCC v9m flash and have it fully functioning on VZW's network.
WOW! I used to be able to send ringtones from my computer to my Verizon V9m phone with no problems. Now, all of he sudden, I can't do it. I don't know how they messed this up, but its not fair. The tones I have are not available from Verizon and I have been using these tones for years from one phone to another. It's not fair that they disable like this. Their tones aren't that great. They edit them and make the volume on many of them too low. My tones are great. It's bad enough they lock the tone once i get it on the phone, just let me get my tones on my phone! Sorry for the rant. I was hoping someone knew a solution or a go around to this. My husband's K1m died and he had to use my spare k1m, now he can't get any of his tones on his phone either. We were using the (your phone number)_______@vzwpic.com now that won't work. I'm able to send pic from my phone to an e-mail but I can't even send pics from a computer to my phone either. This sucks. If anyone knows of any get around, please help.
I have been able to send ring tones from my desktop computer to my V9M through a blue tooth connection. If your ringtone has a midi or mp3 extension simply rename the extension to qcp. Works every time for me. I send it right t o the ringtone folder on the phone.
Thanks for that info. I don't have a blue tooth connection but I will be getting one soon. When you send the tone does it get locked up by Verizon? do they put the little lock next to the name like the other ring tones? And, does it act like a ring tone, in that can you assign it to a contact hame when its in the phone? Thanks again for your help.
^^^ If you don't have BT what program are you trying to use to get the ring tone on the phone? The idea of sending them via your#@vzwpix.com doesn't work anymore. If you have a USB cable to hook up to your comp there are a few options on getting it done so you don't have to buy a BT dongle. Altho I will say using the BT dongle is the fastest and easiest wya as mentioned above. Also as mentioned none of the new VZW phones will take mp3 files as ring tones anymore, as stated they need to be renamed as qcp and they should go just fine. I freaked when I first got my Maxx Ve which is they same way. So when I got my v9m from VZW I knew what was up, but at this point in my case it makes no difference being I flashed my v9m to the leaked USCC firmware to fully unlock it.
There is no lock next to the ringtone. I have erased them easily. Yes you can assign them to contacts as caller IDs
Okay: i'm at my whitts end with this. qcp files don't work and can not be sent to my phone. Verizon is up on what i've been trying to do. I created an actual qcp ringtone and sent it to my phone. I got a message stating that the mail did not go out and is perminantly disabled. Meaning don't even try it. Then i sent an actual photo and that went through. I tried to place the qcp file on my SD card and load it, but that didn't work. WTF?!?!?!? Is there anything else we can do? Does all your other solutions still work. Like sending the qcp via bluetooth? I need help. If anyone can shed some light, i would appreciate it.
Is your file too long? I used a freeware Mp3 editor mpTrim to cut the tone to about 25 seconds then rename it from mp3 to qcp I think you have to send the file as a picture message not a ringtone. I have done this from Verizon's pic place even when people said it does not work. The message was delayed by a day or so but it arrived and I was able to save the qcp file as a ringtone. I am easily able to transfer qcp and picture files from my desktop pc using a bluetooth dongle. I purchased one for $19.99. Mp3 songs have to be transferred by cable
The only 2 ways t oget ring tones on a VZW phone is either via BT or a USB cable. They can not be written to the TF card and then transfered. It just doesn't work. As for e-mail or sending as a pix msgs no can do about 90% of the time. They changed the location of where ring tones get saved whihc is why it doens't work. This link should pretty much cover anything you need to know about the v9m from VZW. Mark_Venture's Verizon Phone Info Page Personally the easiest way is via BT but if you don't own one and have a usb cable just transfer them using p2kcommander. They go into the /motorola/shared/ringtones folder. Then you have to delete the mytone.db file in the root directory of the phone ( ie /a) unplug it cycle the power and you should be in business.
